Fobab #1

Pours a hazy golden colro with a small almost non existent head.

The aroma is earthy with some light solvent notes, the beer is funky smelling and has some nice sour cherry character and some tropical fruit.

The flavor is tart and fruity, plenty of tart cherries, plenty earthy... lightly vinegary.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer is a hazy golden color with a medium white head and a top ring of lace. Aroma of tropical fruits and malt. Medium-bodied and moderately sour with flavors of pineapple and grainy malt. The finish is fruity with a citrus and tropical fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at Brasserie V - Pours clear amber with a ring of white head. Nose is pineapple and sugary peach, with a little baking spice. Taste is the same, lots of tropical fruit with pineapple, mango, and not much sourness at all. Thin, but slick.

tap at fobab. oaky pears, lemons, earthy fruit. tart lemons, and some light dusty fall leaf funk. peculiar vegetal note that was slightly offputting. not as good as a couple other destihl beers i had at fobab, but not bad either.

draft... I expected a ton out of this beer and just wasn’t there... murky gold not much of note... I get a bunch of rotten mangos which should be good in a sour but they just aren’t right, too light in flavor and tartness overall... average
