draft... this is just a bit muddled, I can’t distinguish the strawberries from the rasperries, doesn’t taste bad just a bit boring, needs more assertive fruit profile and a more tartness

Draught at the Normal location. Pours hazy gold with lasting white head. The aroma is lovely lactic sourness, oak, vanilla, slight berry sweetness, some barnyard, and some fresh floral notes. The flavor is tart lactic acid, but not overwhelmingly so. It has a nice subtle berry quality over some mild oak tones. Also some floral, hay, and funk notes float around in there. There’s a lot going on here, but it’s all very well balanced. The finish is dry with a reminder of the berries and leaves a little bit of a tangy aftertaste. Good stuff.

Sampled at the Normal brewpub. This was mostly clear golden with some copper. A thin layer of white head. The nose was nice with cherries smelled first with sour funk. This was very drinkable for this non sour lover. Pkenty of sweetness gave some balance. Very nice fruit with raspberries.

Draft at Plainfield Midwest Brewers’ Fest. Pours an attractive clear gold with a fluffy white head. There is floating particulate of fruit that detracts a bit. Nose is nicely fruity, blend of raspberry and some Brett fruitiness. The strawberry is quite subdued. Yogurt and biscuits as well. On taste, it isn’t particularly sour and has a great balance to it. Nice level of tartness, no astringency. Fruity and fresh tasting with biscuits and bread coming through as well. I really dig that this isn’t puckering and has a great balance. Awesome beer.

Sampled @ Oak Park. Best sour of the day. Red tinted gold with pink head. Aroma and flavor that was distinctly sour, wood, and berries. Well done.

Sampled at the Oak Park, IL. Micro Brew & Food Review, and dispensed to my fest glass by TheAlum. Displayed a clear, reddish gold color, with fluffy, off white head foam, and good cling to the wavey rings of lacing. The nose was distinct and lively berry and fruitiness, with a touch of yeasty funk, and hints of cask wood. The flavor continued these with a pleasant, even keeled sourness, and a complimentary, finishing dryness. An impressive Sour Ale

Sampled on tap at Oak Park MicroBrew Review (Oak Park, IL). Snuck away for some rates while pouring today. A true priviledge to have tried 3 new Destihl sours in a week’s time. Pours a nice glowing golden amber hue, a healthy haze, with very big fluffy whitish head that sits as a solid layer, laces well. Aromas are sour berries, strawberries and raspberries, lemons, lactic acid, funky brett and wet wood. Oak, touches of bread, dust, and berries. Really nice. Very similar to the Straw but with a touch deeper red fruit. Initial is lighter bodied with a lively carbonation, funky and dry brett with lemon, strawberries, brett, and dry soft cheese. Oak, bread, lingering lactic acid. Sourness, lively, summery light sour. Very similar to strawberry, quite tasty. The raspberry tannins stick a bit more in the finish. Really nice, bread, dry lemons, funk. Mmmmmmm. Another winner of a sour from Destihl. The raspberry really does it’s job and adds an incredible layer with some specific tannins on the back of the palate and a delightful sour fruity framboise presence to compliment the already powerful sour strawberry blonde aromas up front.
