This West Coast/Rocky Mountain-style India Pale Ale is back-hopped for a more intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma without the balance of caramel malts like our Midwest-style Baldock IPA. It has medium-high alcohol content, high fruity, floral and citrus-like American-varietal hop character, deep golden color and medium maltiness.

Can/Fest. A- Pine, caramel. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, pine. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Meh. Too much caramel malty backbone and only compliment with some pine bitterness. Not very exciting.

Can poured a clear amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of caramel, yeast, fruitiness and light earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, fruitiness and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Destihlís Vertex seems like the modern IPA in every respect. Golden color with creamy suds up top. Lemon, floral hops, light bread, grass, and basil aromas. It all carries nicely into the flavor profile with plenty of cracker-like malt and earthy hops. A crisp yet balanced feel. Tasty stuff.

Pours slightly hazy golden and bubbling with a nice foamy white head. Pleasant aroma of dank citrus hops and caramel. Taste is high and tight with grapefruit citrus and dry bitterness. Very balanced and drinkable. I quite like this IPA - above average.

Straight from the beer fridge I brought the can unshaken with me onto the recliner and my laptop in my ;ap. I open the can carefully and it foamed up all over my shirt trying desperately to not get the beer on my laptop or the recliners. My shirt was so soaked I had to take it off and get another one on. And this my second 12 oz can of the evening. Definitely not drunk, I poured the remaining beer into my glass and here is what I found. This draft brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a strong bubbly carbonation semi-opaque orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The bubbly mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of velvety smoothness floral and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

12 oz can at home. Pours a hazy golden amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale toasted malts, citrus, grass, light herbal notes, there really isnít much to this, mild to moderate bitterness, just ok.

Destihl Vertex IPA has an extremely thick, spongy, mousse, white head, and an opaque, orange, highly bubbly appearance, which becomes milky, once the caked sediment in swished and poured in. This ale exploded out of the can. The aroma is odd- some sweet & sour sauce notes, and the same thing is present in the taste. Yes, bitterness is strong, but it seems harsh and oddly placed or out of sorts. Mouthfeel is heavy and pulpy. This beer finishes sloppy. I donít know what the deal is, here. There are some tropical aspects, but it is almost like a rank fruit presentation. RJT

On tap at Columbus Winter Beerfest. Mildly hazy golden orange color. Bigger off-white head. Peppery kind of citrusy hop. Bigger biscuity malt. Medium to bigger body. Mild slick texture. Lighter, kind of crisp carbonation. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light bitter. Some lingering sweetness. OK IPA.
