The aroma and flavor of this classic hefeweizen (or weissbier/wheat beer with yeast) is decidedly fruity with clove, nutmeg-like and even vanilla-like phenolics. Banana-like esters are also present. This beer is made with over 50 percent malted wheat, and hop rates are quite low, with hop flavor and aroma being absent. Hefeweizen is well attenuated and very highly carbonated, yet its relatively high starting gravity and alcohol content make it a medium-full bodied beer. The color is very pale. Because yeast is present, the beer will have yeast flavor and a characteristically fuller mouthfeel and is appropriately very cloudy. Nice cloudy straw pour with pillowy soap white head . Nose is full of fruity esters, dominated by banana, with little to no clove. Also a touch of hop on the nose. Slight fusel characteristic. Flavor is sweet with a minor sour note. If you like sweet estry hefes, this one is for you. Carbonation was spot on perfect with this one.

Can that poured a hazy orange yellow color eggshell head. The aroma is classic hefe wheat bananas and Belgian yeast flavor is more of the same with some pepper or spice doesn’t really mesh well. Not a great hefe and not the worst just so so

12 oz. can. Pours clear gold with barely any head just a few bubbles. Aroma has banana light bubblegum bready yeast malt. Taste has more the same as the aroma banana spice bubblegum wheat bread subtle yeast. Palate seems under carbonated and thin. Blah.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Taste sweet, fruity, banana. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

can. Lightly hazy golden with one finger head. Very average take on a hefe. Mild wheat body, light banana and spice. I’ve had good luck with this brewery, but found this a bit underwhelming.

Growler from abc in FL. Smells like lemon cleaner. Looks great. For hefe, seems lacking. Flavor is flat, bit lacking.

Draft to taster at the Champaign brewpub. Looks solid; a mildly hazy gold with white head that dissipates into lacing pretty quickly. Smells yeasty with notes of clove and mild banana. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. Heavier on the clove with a touch of grain as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. A decent example of the style.

From the can. Hazy gold with zero head, zero bubbles, zero carbonation. So apart from being flat, there are hints of banana and spice, perhaps a touch of citrus. Meh.

Can. Wheat malt, faint banana, and clove aroma. Slightly hazy - almost clear - straw gold with a small white head which has no retention. Sweet banana, heavy clove, and wheat malt flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Way too sweet for a hef.

On tap at Hops and Pie poured a cloudy yellow with a small lasting white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, clove and light bubblegum. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast and citrus with a smooth dry finish.

Slightly hazy gold pour with a thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma is wheat, big bready yeast, green banana, sweet cereal and light clove. Flavor is big doughy yeast, sweet and floury wheat, a hint of grassy and spicy hops, soft minerality, a hint of vanilla, and green banana. Medium body, creamy to slick feel, light, blanketing carbonation. Halfway decent overall, but the raw doughy yeast way overpowers any tasty esters and phenolics associated with a good Hefe.
