(From notes 15 Oct, 2012) Bottle. Large, thick brown head. Beer itself is pitch black. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate and smoke. Flavors are great; coffee, sweet malt stuff, chocolate and bitterness. Mouthfeel is very creamy. Finish is long and bitter.
I believe the Port is noticeable, as there was something different about this I can’t quite put my finger on. Hoppyness is nice in this one. Fantastic beer.

33 cl. white wax bottle split with Kraddel // 2010 Vintage I assume // pours like it should, pitch, pitch black with a solid reasonable sized mocha head // smell is thick, mocha, roast, very chocolate heavy, clear booze and almost vinous touch // very bitter taste, quite heavy on the roast, lots of mocha, pure black chocolate, lots of liqueur chocolate in here with the booze coming through heavily, thick near vinous molasses, long lasting bitter aftertaste combined with booze // tad syrupy and lower carb. // neat stuff

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 joes (66) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - AUG 8, 2012
Bottle @ home. Black beer with a good, dark brown en firm head that stays for quite a while. Aroma of roasted/burnt malts, black coffee, salt licorice (even some soy sauce), hints of vanilla and dark dried fruits, sweet red wine or porto. In the taste I find almost the same as in the aroma, but the chocolate/coffee comes more to the front. Quit sweet in the beginning, with burnt bitter in the aftertaste. I would like this with a bit more body (sirupy), but still a very good beer.
