Unclear medium amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, wet wood, smoke notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, smoke notes. Body is medium to full, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20100409]

Bottled. A deep red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, spices, flowers, malt, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel sauce, malt, hops, spices, and wood as well as hints of whiskey, leading to a dry, bitter finish, where the alcohol tickles the tongue.

Massive body, a little low in carbonation, very sweet caramel and nuts with distinct notes of Scotch and a vague peaty edge. Massively sweet - almost syrupy - making this rather hard to digest. Bottled. Deep amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some stinging sweetness, some ripe fruits as well as mild alcohol and wood. Flavour is sweet malts, some alcohol, ripe fruits, mild peated and smoked wet wooden notes as well as some slight herbal notes. Smooth palate and quite easy to drink even though the high abv.

Sweet and fruity aroma of berries, oak and vanilla.
Sweet and fruity flavour of berries, earth, peat and vanilla with notes of alcohol.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty whisky aroma with hoppy hints and some hints of smoke. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with hints of oak and whisky. Has a sweetish malty whisky finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

Tasting at Papsø
Hazy dark amber color. The aroma is not very strong, sweet caramel, some alcohol, but also delicate vanilla. Full bodied, with very sweet caramel flavor; correct bitterness, some alcohol warmth (but less evident than the actual content), with the usual, light dusty feeling; the final is getting traces of herbs digestive liquors. Very good.

Bottle at home. Cloudy red/brown - white head. High wood. Dry wooden. Nice. Dark fruits. Dark berries. Light hoppy. Nice.

Bottle. The small, beige head sits patiently on top of a semi-clear, amber colored body. The aroma has dark dried fruits, caramel, some roasted hints and some boozy whisky hints. Hints of meatyness and quite evident hops too. In the flavor, I think the boozy alcohol is too evident, but it’s a quite nice one anyway. Dried fruits, caramel, some bitterness and hoppy flavors, and a touch of sugar too. Full-bodied, warming and pleasantly carbonated. Overall, a nice one, although I’d like it with less alcohol, and maybe a bit less sweetness. 120330
