Denne øl er brygget i anledning af, at vi “Det Lille Bryggeri/Roskilde Øl” fylder 10 år den 1. september 2012. Denne øl er den 8. af 10 øl, som vi har valgt at brygge i denne celebration serie. 1 øl for hvert år.

Bottle @ SBWF’12

Pours pitch black with  foamy white head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate. Hints of coffee. Taste is quite roasty and burnimg with notes of chili, spices, chocolate and coffee. Finish is warming and roasty with notes of spices and chili. Okay, a bit unbalanced imperial stout.

Crazy gusher - again! Damn. Best before january 2015. Taste of earth and chili. Lumpy stuff. Bummer.

0.33 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Black color, high carbonation but head vanishes quickly. Sharp roasty aroma with coffee, charcoal, dryed chili and chocolate. Burnt flavor with dryed chili, coffee, cocoa and charcoal with hint of raisins. Somewhat stingy mouthfeel. Dominated by dark roast coffee and chili, not a best combination. Luckily chili is not just burning, there is some nice chili taste also.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with small tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit. Bitter onset, quickly replaced by malty and caramel notes. Massive attack of alcohol, both in the aroma and in the flavour. Dryish finish. Not bad but the ABV is too high.

Bottle, 10%. Roasted aroma, yeast, coffee, late liquorice note. Black colour. OK dark brown head. The flavour is boozy and hot at first. Then it is roasted, a bit yeasty with even more chili. Jam finish. Distinct burning chili, perhaps not too much, but just about there. 10% ABV is not needed here.

Bottle @ Bruce’s. MASSIVE GUSHER. We lost >90% of the bottle. You’ve been warned. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny head. The nose is chili-spiked chocolate, roast grain, syrup. Earthy compost. The taste is burnt brownies, chocolate, roast grain. Medium body, active carbonation. Overall, OK.

Bottle at Bruce’s. This b@st#rd gushed all over me! The tiny amount left poured murky opaque brown. The nose is tangy, vegetal, green chilli and malt vinegar. The taste is caramel, roasted malt, chilli, increasing spice, chocolate, vanilla and curry notes with a dry, lightly spicy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Tastes not bad actually, but score reduced due to the cost of my dry-cleaning bill.

’Paul takes a brown shower’ tasting at Bruce’s pad. Explosive beer that covered Paul in brown sticky beer! What little that wasleft was opaque dark brown with a little pale tan head. Smooth dark malts, rich. Bitter chocolate. Touch of paper. A little chilli heat. Dry finish. Not bad - but points lost for the dreadful mess it made!

Bottle shared at Bruce’s, London - picked up at BarleyWine in Copenhagen. This was a massive, massive gusher. Pours deep brown with a fine, tan cream head. Nose of dark, lightly dry cocoa and some hints of chili. Medium to big sweet flavor, earth, baking cocoa, burnt toast. Medium bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Very subtle chili spice in the finish, dark chocolate, modest roast, dry cocoa. Good beer.

330ml bottle bought at Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Opaque coal black body, naked surface, poor lacing. Profound impact of dark roasted malts joined by vapour of alcohol. Roasted malty taste with hints of vanilla, coffee, leather and dark chocolate followed by a chili punch to the ending. Warming alcohol. Good slow sipper, rather heavy to drink though (at home, Tromsø 11.05.2013).
