Flavor is sweet with roasted malt, liquerice and and coffee. Ends light bitter. thewolf (5633), Kolding, Denmark Jan 28, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Kolding Vinhandel. Pours a very muddy dark brown with a fizzy, bubbly off white head. It settles as a 1cm thick head with medium bubbles. Aroma is powreful, sweet, chocolate and dried fruits and light hazel nuts. Mouthfeel is okay. Flavour has a heavy yeast presence, a clear chocolate edge with a slight sourness on top of it. There is some berries in there as well. It is actually okay - but mostly because the chocolate makes it feel a little ’fat’. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Nov 27, 2007 Bottle. Light nut and grass aroma. Deep brown color with a beige head. Sweet nut flavors with a smooth light palate. Rather plain. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Nov 6, 2007 An interesting and kinda unique, candied dark belgian-style ale showing obvious yeastiness that never quite gets complex in front of generic caramel/earthy malts. A noting feature is its lollipop sweetish component. Tart on the palate, which feels a bit awkward paired with the malt’s toastiness. It creates an astringent finish that reaches its maximum as leafy hops kick in and make it dry. That’s unfortunate, because it had felt successively pancake-like, blackberries-like and grape-like on its way to this disaster. Train wreck ultimately. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Aug 3, 2007 Fynske Øldage 2005, Odense. Dark with a refreshing aroma with notes of fruit and caramel. The mouthfeel is oily and the flavour sweetish with notes of roasted malt, caramel and sweet licorice. It has a light bitter finish and it’s nice.
