Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were roastedness. liquorice, coffee, hops ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty and bitter. Nice balanced beer and luckily not too burnt for my taste.

Aroma is rather roasted with coffee and licorice. Flavour has licorice, some roasted malt, coffee and hints of peat. Very nice stuff for this ABV.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rickgordon (3764) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 8, 2011
Old rating, from bottle at City Pub.
Almost or all black colour with rich brown head.
Dusty, milky, toasty nose. Flavour is edgy toasty, rich milky and delicious with toasted, dry, almost sooty finish. Medium body, medium bitter.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (6210) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 26, 2011
500ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki) - shared by mjs - thanks!
7 Rich coffee aroma, but pretty mellow and with a decent toasted bread malty backbone.
5 Black, tan head. Delightful.
7+ Super full coffee taste, very richly burnt. At this point Anna and mjs disagree about whether it’s ashy or not. To me, ashiness requires something almost minerally, not just the carbon (that, after all, is the majority of what ash is - the carbon’s been burnt away). This beer has the carbon, but doesn’t have the minerals, so I’m calling it burnt, but not ashy.
4 Full palate, soft carbonation. Very dry.
13 I think the burntness might get too focused after a while and begin to annoy, but in a half it’s fine.

(500 ml bottle @ Gastropub Nordic)
Pours a deep black colour with a huge off-white head which fills the glass nicely. Licorice, coffee, dark chocolate and smoked malt on the aroma. Dry and roasted flavour with hints of fresh hops and coffee. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Too thin for me.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2010
Bottled at Copnhagen Beer Festival. Black, small head. Aroma of licorice and tobacco. Sweet and almost full bodied, despite the low gravity. Sweet with dense mouthfeel. Licrice turns to coffee in the finish, whichhas marked bitterness. A solid porter, drinkable yet with more impact than expected!
