3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 8, 2013 Tap at the brewery on Tigers Opening Day 4/5/13. From memory. Pours a deep dark red color with a small creamy head that fades very slowly. Aroma is packed with caramel malt and just a hint of chocolate. Taste is very malt, definitely more like a scotch ale than an amber. Good caramel malt flavor, very light chocolate notes. Smooth finish. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Tasty scotch ale.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Likely this beerís best feature. Has a really nice, deep amber color, and the lacing is phenomenal. Hard to judge it completely accurately though, seeing as how I had it in a plastic cup.
Smell: Not much to it. It smells like the style, but has something sort of "cheap" about it. And that goes on in the flavor....
Taste: Itís not BAD. Itís just not great. I didnít like it so much my first few sips, but I dug it a little bit more as I finished up. It has a ton of malt, but itís definitely not of the highest quality. I almost get a gravelly taste. Certainly doesnít taste "pure", though I donít think itís terrible... especially for being a beer brewed in Detroit. As far as made-in-Detroit beers, this is one of my favorites... though that isnít saying much.
