My psychological set clearly works in favor of this beer… I hear the words “Detroit,” “Bohemian,” and “beer” in the same sentence I pin for the Stroh’s and Signature of days gone by. Fortunately for Old Detroit brewery, their beer far exceeds either of those two brews. Medium gold in color with a white head, aroma dominated by hops, flavor dominated by hops in the finish but with a respectable malt back bone. Very good!

12oz bottle, no date. Pours a clear golden with a 1/2 finger white head--tiny bubbles with pretty decent retention as far as pale lagers are concerned. Decent lacing for the style. Aroma of corn syrup, hay, and a hint of biscuits. Biscuity sweet malts dominate the flavor as well with some light noble hops. Mild bitterness in the semi-dry finish. Other than that, not a lot else going on. Light carbonation with a light creamy body. Definitely one of the better pale lagers I’ve had--I can’t pick out any flaws.

12 oz bottle into my Detroit Tigers Mug. Aroma Grainy, a sweet biscuit scent, maybe some grassy hops. Looks magnificent for Pale lager standards, a golden straw pour but the lacing is awesome and a nice 2 1/2 finger head that just sits at the top of the glass. Flavor is surprisingly good. With a nice malt characteristic, nice subtle hop flavor, grassy, and the slightest bit of caramel. Palate is clean refreshing, nicely bubbly and carbonated like a lager like this should. Overall, Wow nice. Good stuff. Cheers!

Bottle. I am not a big lager fan, but this was pretty refreshing on hot day. Crisp with only very minor skunky tones. Clean finish, carbonation is moderate. I would have again when looking for this style.

Poured a crisp brass color from the bottle with a rather weak white head. Sweet malty aroma, but not very pungent. interesting mixture of sweetness and bitterness. overall very drinkable. A good local lager.

Being from Michigan I naturally needed to try this one. Not too bad, it poured golden with light lacing around the rim. Just a hint of hops and perhaps a citrus taste. I enjoyed from a 12 ounce bottle, but would have preferred from tap.

Pours a gold yellow with thick white head, minimal lacing. Aroma of lightly toasted malt, very light floral hops, and not a lot else. Flavor is surprisingly strong, which I was not expecting from the aroma. Overall pretty decent.

on tap-pours a disappearing white head and yellow color. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is sweet grain, secondary/faint earthy hops. Light side of medium body.

Bottle from Siciliano’s Market, Grand Rapids, MI. Clear straw color with infection large bubble head that settled to medium white head with lacing. Aroma is slightly sour with dry caramel malt and green apple. Slight sour flavor as well but very dry, green apple and light spicey hop notes, a little herbally as well. Medium body with creamy carbonation. I guarentee that this is not what the brewer intended but it actually turned out very drinkable an dinteresting.
