Some fruity aroma. Dark coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy with a little dryness and bitterness in a crisp burnt roast finish.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark brownish pour with a medium creamy beige head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Light body with a sweet roasty character and notes of chocolate malt and a touch of coffee. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at the brewpub. Deep black pour with a tight dark tan head. Thick and sticky. The aroma is loaded with lots of cocoa and dark malt. Fairly assertive dark malt roastiness. A touch of bittersweet chocolate and cocoa as well as a touch of coffee toward the finish. The malts are quite expressive and bright, despite all the dark malts. Nice stuff really.

Brown with some tan head. Aroma is milder than the breakfast stout but similar, with roasted malt and chocolate along with smoke. Smooth and smoky, pretty good.

Tap @ Detroit Beer - Roasty, chocolate goodness. Nice soft body and nice hoppy kick. Soft molasses and smooth and sessionable. Some herbal, earthy notes that follow through... and raisins.

Draft pint at the brewpub. Like the first beer I had at DBC, this seemed like a recipe beer -- Nothing too grand nor offensive either, just straight down the safe lane. Slightly chocolatey. (#3813, 1/23/2010)

Pours a deep dark brown with thick tan head. Aroma strong of chocolate, oats, and roasted malt. Flavor matches the aroma, but it just doesn’t seem to all come together right for me.

Pours dark brown/black with a sweet, coffee, and chocolate flavor. Very similar to their Oatmeal stout, maybe with a lighter body.

Tap: dark brown with a ring of bubbles for head. Aroma was coffee and bitter hops. Taste like bitter coffee. A little thin.

pretty much what i expected from this--looks, smells, and tastes like a typical porter. decent to solid--very drinkable.
