Deus pours like a champagne with a light golden color and a huge fluffy white head that continues to grow for some time. There is a dry apple aroma with some spiceness and barnyardy qualities. Has an apple like quality to the taste that is accomapnied by a touch of spice and earthiness with a subdued hoppishness. Throughout the astringent quality dominates and leaves the palate with a snap.

75 cl. bottle, 2004 vintage. The corked popped but luckily the beer was not spilled. Champagned like head of course, very nice appearance. In the nose, something slightly toasted, wood, resin, some honey, a little oily, which I think is good for this type, clove. In the mouth is dry, casked conditioned wine and it reminds me of salted toasted almonds. In the mouth, some fruit, dry, oily, and reminds me of cake. You could have this as an aperitif or wirh desserts. STrong body. Wonderful.

Clear golden color with a champagne fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and spicy. Flavor is thickly sweet yet peppery with very little discernable hop in the finish, but there is a distinct spiciness. Very interesting brew. Just realized the ABV on this... very well hidden, would have guessed it around half that. If the price on this wasn’t so ridiculous I would keep a few bottles on hand, as I think it would be a great compromise for those that prefer wine and champagne.

Bottle 2002 vintage: Bright golden pour with a huge fizzy head. Aroma was a little woody, with some spice, yeast, and a bit of a medicinal smell. Flavor some light malts, a bit of sweetness, a little funky. The finish was a little airy, with some spice. Bought it once because I had to try it, but probably never again. It just didn’t do it for me.

2002 vintage: I might be a homer, just cuz I paid this much for beer, but that can also work against the rating when a beer doesn’t live up to such expectations. Hey, is there a sound rating category? This sounded great, when popping the cork, much grander thant he spppffffftt of a cap being opened. Poured a nice golden color with a huge carbonated champagne head. Just beautiful display of carbonation steadily rising to the top of the glass and keeping the sedimentation suspended. Lacing was very nice. The aroma was like Sprite soda with citrus and candi sugar coming through most strongly, maybe a yeasty type odor, and light juniper-like spicing. The flavor was fantastic, Sprite-like lemon-lime, grapes, light apples, an underlying tripel like base, and a very light touch of barnyard funk. This tasted like a cross between a tripel, saison, champagne, and a touch of Sprite soda. Mouthfeel finished dry but was somewhat thick (again, like a tripel) up to the finish. This exceeded my expectations (I bought it for the experience, not expecting 26 bucks worth of beer).

2002 vintage. Pours clear gold and super carbonated with a pulsing giant white head and a storm of bubbles. Sharp mineral and light barnyard aroma with yeast and lemon peel. Heavier in body than the appearance would suggest. Sweet and sticky with herbal and mineral notes. Low alcohol presence. Tastes like a highly carbonated Trippel, but 3 times as expensive.

Sampled at Noogfest-2. Pours like golden champagne. The aroma is spicy with herbs, sweetness, and alcohol. Crisp really. Sweet cotton candy at first sip. Fruit sweetness increases gradually (a bit fake tasting actually). Light herbyness, light spicy hops and warm alcohol. Floral. Very carbonated (again like champagne) and a slick body with a sticky finish. Interesting.

A clear golden orange colored beer with a lemon lime aroma (but not like a sprite). It tastes totally different than it smells, it smells sour but tastes sweet. A very solid mouth feel. I just love a well carbonated beer with rolling alcohol at the end.
