First brewed at Bosteels, transfered to the Champagne region of France were it is treated much like a champagne with the bottles inverted and the yeast expunged and bottle recorked.

02 bottle at noogfest. funky smell like a geuze with some mussels, salmon, and menthol, tobacco, wine, fruit, and funky cheese. mmm... flavor is very much like the aroma with mostly fruity notes and a few floral and perfume arrangements thrown in. Very good. The alcohol does in fact kick you in the nuts as shag mentioned. lol.

Final beer for the Bottleworks Cellar Tasting. 2001 Vintage. Pours orange with a finger of white head. Smell is light crisp and vinous, pear. Taste is honey, Belgium yeast, gum. Fantastic.

750 bottle (2011). Pours a medium gold, with a white head. Big aroma, yeast, malt, nuts, marzipan, earth, grape, citrus, bread. Semi-sweet, full bodied, medium bitterness, creamy CO2. Fruity taste, yeast, grapefruit, apricot, bread, quite wine-like, faintly funky, very complex. (2012-04-10)

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2012 Contents under pressure ! Great pop and pours a pale blonde straw like hue with tons of tiny bottom rising bubbles and a big four finger gaseous head. Aromas are peach, spice, yeast, slightly tangy with hints of ginger. On the palate there is alot going on here.... Starts out crisp and bright with a yeasty, floral citrus thing going on but that is quickly covered up by a creamy full bodied sweet honey, caramelized apple on the midpalate and then falls away to open the door back up for those floral champagne notes to linger. Im quite surprised this rolls in at 11.5%abv... A good beer but not a great beer and at this price I expected more... Id like to see a saison go through a similar cellaring process with champagne yeast instead.

Bottle. Hazy golden orange pour with a lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy and a little musty with a faint floral undertone. Flavour sticks pretty close to the aroma with a hint of saltiness and notes of banana, orange, caramel, mineral, and funky Belgian yeast. Mouthfeel is very light and dry with lively, smooth carbonation, well hidden alcohol and a lingering spicy sweet finish. This is a very nice brew and obviously a lot of care goes into its production but for all that it doesn’t really stand out that much from all the other similar strong Belgian ales. Very good nonetheless.

Clear golden beer, big aery white head, pretty adhesive. Aroma: bit sweet, sugary, floral, yeast, bit of citrus, ripe fruits. MF: good carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sweet, very floral, ripe fruits. MF: good lively carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sweet, very floral, ripe fruits, citrus fruit, lemony, yeast signature but not disturbing, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: a little sweet, very floral, herbal and spicy with a gentle bitterness and nice dry ending with some warming alcohol.

Jan 2010: This beer was opened and reviewed along side the Malheur Bière Brut and came second in every aspect. Very pale, almost watery and clear, there was a slight yellow hue and plenty of froth, a thin white head sat on top. I got a mixed bag from the aromas, pears, apples, cinnamon and nutmeg. The taste was more like a Spanish Cava than a beer. Very fizzy, almost ginger beer feel to it, aggressive in the mouth with added parsnips. Glad I had the other champagne beer at the same time, puts this one very firmly into second place.

A 7yr old bottle shared and courtesy vertical bacon strips LOL pours a hazy deep yellow with suspended sediment. Aroma of barnyard, spices, bright citrus malt and tartness. Taste is alcohol and spices. Mixed with bright fruit. Not bad for such an old bottle.

Bottle. Wedding present from my beautiful wife. Drunk to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversay. Pours a light golden straw. Strong bead. Dense white head falls away very quickly. No lacing. Spicy fruity aroma shows ginger, green grapes, honey and some alcohol. Flavours are dominated by belgium yeast and alcohol. Very champagne like to me. Interesting beer.
