one of the best beers i have ever had, I had to buy a whole case of it!! the bubbly aroma had notes of coriander & citrus. It’s appearence in the flute was so impressive, i just wanted to stare at it for a while. very impressive brew, definitly one for special occasions, since it resembles champagne. If you can find it, buy it!

Pours like champagne, though a bit darker. Caramel and fruit mask the nose of the alcohol. The taste of alcohol is cleverly hidden by citrus, honey, and wood overtones. Caramel and apple also sneak into the intricate flavor of this nearly divine beer. Stays light and bubbly on the palate until the faint heat washes in. Warm and tingly feelings abound. A definite must have on New Years.

Cor límpida e ambar, bastante espumosa. Aroma intenso e persistente, frutado e levemente alcoólico. Paladar frutado, intenso e peculiar. Minha experiência foi superior do que com a Malheur.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 lagomswedish (213) - Umeå, SWEDEN - MAY 22, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2008 Bottle at Bishops Arms in Umeå. Having read about the pain-stakingly elaborate process behind creating this beer in MJ’s Book of Belgium Beers I had it mentally listed as a must-try. So when I saw a bottle for the first time ever in my local pub in Sweden last night I practically hurdled the bar to get to it.
Served in a bucket of ice (and I mean literally a canary yellow plastic bucket of ice - mental note to myself to phone the bar manager today to talk about proper beer presentation) Deus has managed to once again redefine my understanding of what beer is.
Drunk from champagne flutes it pours a sparkling pale gold with a fluffy meringue head. Once this fizzles away you’d be hard pushed to tell it apart from the wine it borrows so many qualities from. Stunning aromas of sweet white grape (reminded me a little of Duvel) and allspice. Juicy flavours of slightly sour cooking apples and pears all wrapped up in vanilla oak. The mouthfeel is sublime - each sip virtually vanishing. The drinking equivalent of trying to grasp a cloud. From the elegant bottle (let’s just skip the bucket) to the beer itself this is truly worthy of its name and reputation. If you ever get the chance leap across the bar and try it.

Clear and sparkling, palate to die for. crisp flavour with hints of ginger and spice. Over all a fantastic beer. Shame about the price!

A shared krug (thanks to Brian at Coastal Wine Connection!), vintage 2002, the consensus comments were an aroma of ginger and spice, sour and Flemish-like. The appearance golden and solid, like a light Belgian. Flavor: Sweet. Sweet and Sweet. Subdued malt, lemony, complex, restrained and subtle with the only hint of the 11.5% at the very end as a warming sensation rolls off the back fo the tongue. Awesome beer. (#3047, 8/2/2007)

Looks like champage and smells nice. Okay starts with a mouthful of alcohol, then mostly goes into an extremely dry champagne finsih. The strongest flavoring I get though is that of red wine -high quality bitter stuff. Belgian Ale qualities are faint and mostly at the beginning. Overall it really pretty good and powerful. It took getting my motorcycle started to convince me that the occasion was right for a $25 bottle of beer.

Holy cow. Big soapy bubbles of carbonation float in this clean and pale beer. Smells of green tea ice cream. Tastes of big carbonation... nice and light... almost medicinal in a way and quite spicy. This is a wonderful beer experience. Enjoy it when you can afford 11.5%.
