3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jerc (5589) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2008
2008-04-04. Hazy brown body with a modest foamy beige head. (3+) Interesting aroma of light spice and dandelions, with muted grassy notes. (7+) Similar flavour, light zippy spice, light citrus character to a tangy overall character. Underlying malt is a secondary player but provides a necessary cohesive thread to it all. Very light bitterness. (7+) Average palate is pleasantly smooth. Perhaps I am being a touch generous in the score, but this pushed the right buttons for me today. Spicy character reminds me a bit of Fantome. Bottle from Délices et Caprices, Brussels

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 8, 2009
(Bottled) Clear ruby/blood red with a small, firm and tanned head. Earthy aroma of musty cellar and neutral maltiness - some licorice-anise spiciness, too. Roasted-malty, cellary, slightly sour flavor with some ashiness and dried fruit. Alcohol well hidden, and ashiness gone with yeast. Medium, slicky body with somewhat foamy, medium carbonation. Reminds me of slightly aged Chimay Grande Reserve. Might even be slightly infected, but pretty good nevertheless.
