3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Russo (1056) - Campinas, - MAY 1, 2007
Very nice beer, the aroma is good, appearance is like a dark amber color with a dense cream white head. You can feel the toasted flavor with a bitterness at finish. Not so good like the europeans...
Boa cerveja, um aroma bom e forte, de cor vermelho escuro quase um marrom e uma espuma densa e cremosa, gosto demalte torrado e amargo no final. Não tão boa quanto as européias....
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 16, 2012
Tap at Devassa Ipanema. It pours amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is metal, caramel, raisin, currant and some citrus. The taste is lime, kiwi, currant, raisin, caramel, citrus tang, metal and a touch of bitterness, with a dry finish. Medium body and mod-high carbonation. Not sure if I would call this an IPA. Not actually that bad, there is some decent fruit and it’s easy drinking.
2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sevenlee (537) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - FEB 19, 2011
Dark amber in colour with a tall creamy white head. For some reason, I could not small almost any aroma. There was a bit of a hint of some sweet malt but that was about it. Taste however was nice. Some sweet caramel flavour with a light hoppy bitter finish. Beautifully soft creamy mouth feel. All round, not bad but I would like to see more aroma.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fullers (237) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2010
Bottle Cervejaria Devassa in Flamengo, Pours coppery brown with small off-white head. Malty aroma. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. lacks bitterness so for me a drinkable pale ale.

Boa opção da cervejaria carioca. coloração acastanhada e sabor suave, mas ainda distante das americanas.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - APR 20, 2007
Draught at the brewpub Amber color. Some caramel flavor, very light malt and roasted malt; ordinary bitterness. At the end, a touch of honey. Would be an ordinary Lager, maybe a dark blond Kellerbier.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 scanovajr (568) - Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL - APR 9, 2007
At Devassa Bar, Leblon, Rio de Janeiro. It lacks the strong hop profile that is characteristc of the style. Low bitterness for the style. Malty aroma and taste. Redish brown color. A good beer but not exactly an IPA.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 bgiamatei (317) - São Paulo, BRAZIL - MAR 16, 2007
Boa. Longe de uma IPA inglesa.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 locarboy (119) - USA - JAN 7, 2007
At the Devassa Bar in Leblon. Came to the table a reddish copper color with a nice creamy head. A bit high on the carbonation for the style. Lacked the hoppy aroma the typifies the style. Didn’t seem to have the alcohol strength as well. I did prefer it over the English Pale Ale. One might consider it a Brazilian interpretation of the style, just as micros in the USA have given the style their own interpretation.
