2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Derek881 (855) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - JUL 6, 2011
I had a can of this beer poured into a glass while in Rio de Janeiro. The beer had a light gold color with a smallish, bubbly white head that had light retention and some cling. It predominantly had a grainy and grassy hops aroma with a slight touch of malt. The beer tasted mostly bitter and grainy, with a slight bit of sweetness too. The mouthfeel was a bit thin and dry with average levels of carbonation and a dry finish.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 ClubGonzo (2718) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 6, 2011
Bottle, thanks to a colleague back from Brasil. :-) Pours a paler-than-pale light yellow body with a small white head, disappearing nearly instantly. Not good looking. Aroma is pale malts with hints of sweet vegetables and wet cardboard. Taste is slightly better, with pale malts and some bitter hints. Despite its bland drinkability (which could have saved it), there are some tones of skunked hops and veggies in the aftertaste. Thin and watery palate. Wishy-washy. On to the next.

Light golden in colour with a fizzy head. Aroma is soft but of citrus. Taste is sweet and citrusy also. Not too bad, definitely better than most Brazilian beers but nothing to rave about.

Bottle Garota da Itauna, Saquarema (RJ) Pours golden yellow, generous head. More full bodied than other Brazilian lagers, high carbonation. Best of a poor Brazilian representation in this style of beer.
