Bottle to a pint glass. Light hazy gold with fizzy white head which rapidly fades. A bit of funk and spice. Crisp light malty profile . Clean dry finish, a little boozy on the back end. Very refreshing...

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a chalice from a haul back from VA.
The appearance was a hazy semi-dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. There was a light stringy sticky lacing around the glass.
The smell had a decent amount of sweet orange, clementine and pear that led into a light spice of coriander and light clove. Belgian sugary candy came into balance nicely.
The taste was sweet but carried a nice Belgian spice and allowing the orange, clementine and pear to come back nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. For 7.8%, this one was a bit surprising to find that I could drink this instead of sip, no worries, enjoyable.
Overall, I say this was a good Belgian beer but to say strong, maybe I just had an old bottle.

Transfer from BA review on 5-26-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a medium golden color with a big billowy white head that initially fades fast, but then leaves a rather persistent ˝ finger head. This small head faded slowly to leave a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma is sweet and yeasty with a nice Belgian malt aroma. The sweeter aromas are a mix of orange and pear with all the aforementioned smells joined by a slight grassy smell. With a little bit of a doughy aroma as well as a hint of alcohol mixing with the rest, a rather nice triple like aroma is produced.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet citrus flavor of orange upfront mixed with a good Belgian malt flavor. Soon after the start, yeast flavors as well as a bit of honey come to the tongue as well as a light fruit flavor of pear and some apple A very faint alcohol taste comes to the tongue at this point, and while it grows stronger to the end, it never gains all that much potency. In the end a lighter grassy hop flavor and a bit herbal hop taste join the taste to leave a still more sweet, but very pleasant flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slighter thinner to average side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that is average in intensity, but consisting of very tiny champagne like bubbles. The very fine carbonation bubbles are very nice for the sweeter Belgian malt and fruit flavors of the brew while the thinner to average body further suits these flavors as well as makes it rather easy drinking.
Overall – This is a rather nice tasty Belgian strong. It has a sweet and fruity base matched with a lighter citrus hop note. It is rather easy drinking and enjoyable and one if I had the chance would go to on more occasion.

From pitcher at tap takeover at RVC. Poured a clear gold, good head. Aroma was pale malts, pear esters, some Belgian yeast driven spice. Flavor matched, still oddly fruity with pear, sweetish finish. Not bad, but wasn’t working for me.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 oz. bottled Mar 18, 2014. Says 7.0%, not 7.8. Pours clear golden with a meringue like foam that tries to last, but peters out. Nose is toasted corn, honey and dry grass. Taste is the same, with some apple, pear, menthol hard candy and ethanol. Medium body is to the sweet side but finishes crisp. Low, smooth carbonation is nice. Wish I could have bought a single instead of six.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Clear, golden beer with a tall white head. Surprisingly subtle taste and aroma -- not much to note especially for the strength. A decent beer but not much memorable to run back to.
