2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
On tap at Whole Foods Fair Lakes, pours a straw gold with some swirling white head. Nose is odd, buttery, straw, some white flour, lemon, a little rotting fruit. Flavor follows right along, vitamin C, grating lemon, but something like rancid butter happening too. Watery, lemony finish.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Very slightly hazy golden coloured body with a crisp honey colour and a thin, fast-dying head about a centimetre tall and purely white. Aroma of a plain lager with miller lite scents showing rice, cardboard and the faintest hints of lemon - not too easy on the nose. Light-bodied; Sharp cardboard and stale malt flavours with a light grassy and herbal flavour and only a touch of lemons and tartness - but very light and not too pleasant. Aftertaste shows a relatively bland beer with not too much exciting and not a good beer for the style at all with absolutely no complexity. Overall, this is more of a blonde ale than anything else - bland and not sour/tart with no complexity. I know we’re far from Berlin, but this is just bad. I sampled this 32 ounce growler, filled yesterday on 20-September-2015 for US$5,00 at Whole Foods in Fair Lakes, Virginia sampled at home in Washington the following day on 21-September-2015.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
on tap @ Devils Backbone / Roseland VA --- Clear straw color, white head, broken curtain of lace. Taste is brisk sour lemon, grass, and heavy fizz. Very basic, not malty enough to notice. The sour taste isn’t like a Gose, more like an unsweetended shandy. Doesn’t work very well.

On tap at the brewery.
Tart, tangy, lemon, grass. There seem to be a lot of these bland beers on tap at the brewery at the moment.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I’ve had this a couple of times, one at the brewpub in Roseland and once at 622N in Blacksburg. Tasted neat and with syrups (blood orange or peach). This is typical Berliner Weiss with yeasty sourness and a very acid finish. The blood orange syrup that they had at Roseland was really good and matched the beer perfectly. Very nice job on this one gents.
