COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We added a generous amount of milk sugar to this black beer to create mild sweetness and fuller body. Black, medium-full bodied with hints of malted-milk chocolate goodness! Milk Stouts originated in England and were seen as being so wholesome and nutritious that they were often prescribed to nursing mothers and convalescents.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 11/21/12

Aroma: This one has a nose of milk chocolate, coffee, cream, and just a drop of oat
Appearance: It has a brown-black colored pour with a brown head and some creamy lace
Flavor: The flavor of this beer is medium sweet, medium roasty, and a little bit bitter too
Palate: This one feels pretty creamy, it has a medium body, a soft carbonation, and a light dry finish
Overall Impression: This was the mystery beer of the day at the brew pub, and I thought it was a pretty solid example of this style. It isn’t a special beer, but it is quite solid with a nice mouthfeel.

Tap at P St Whole Foods. Pours near ink black with mild ruby highlights. Looks similar to Bourbon County Stout I’m having right next to it. Weak, deep mocha foam. Nose is muted with black olives and dark chocolate. Some cinnamon graham cracker. Taste is very earthy with cattle manure, dirt road, mud, hay. Very raw and rustic. Palate is very dense and heavy. Reminds me of Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. Pretty aggressive thickness and piney hop balance. Nice.

On tap at Rustico Ballston. Served in a sampler glass. Pours a very dark brown with a light mocha head. The nose was a bit heavy on the roast, but also had some nice chocolate and a bit of sweetness. Flavor was also roasty with some milk chocolate behind. Medium body with roast bitterness. A pretty good milk stout, though a bit too roasty for my taste.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a medium creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, nuts and a sweet finish. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, nuts and faint bitter hops. Smooth, medium bodied and soft carbonation. Nice beer.
