Draft at the brewpub. Poured a dark almost black color, tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, some notes of chocolate and a touch of toasted notes. Flavor was roasted malts, chocolate, some touch of coffee notes. Pretty darn good.

Aromas of chocolate, coffee, earthy hops, and licorice. Black with ruby highlights and a moderately retaining tan head. Slightly sweet, roasty, and bitter. Full bodied, creamy, with moderate carbonation, strong but not boozy, and finishes with a warm, sweet roastiness.

1/2 pint After climbing Crabtree Falls with my daughter we stopped by to taste their Baltic porter. The aroma of roasted malt and choclate greet you. The porter pours a deep black with small head. The complex taste of chocolate and licorice are enjoyed. The carbonation was average. The finish had some feint taste of coffee and a hint of bitterness. This is nice way to finish a day. The brewpub was not crowded for a Sunday afternoon.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 11/21/12, Listed at 25 IBUs on the menu

Aroma: This one has a nice nose of roasted malts, chocolate, and some licorice
Appearance: It pours into the glass a dark brown color with a brown head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor is malty, a little sweet, a little roasted, and with a roasty and lightly bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a somewhat heavy feel, a dry roasted feel to the finish
Overall Impression: The waitress mentioned a few times that this one had just won Silver at the GABF 2012, so I was expecting an excellent Baltic Porter, and that is pretty much what I got. This was a really good one in my opinion, and a clear favorite at our table (of mostly big time Porter fans).

Aroma of dark fruit with a slight malt undertone, perfectly carbonated for the style, flavor of malt and bittersweet chocolate. Alcohol completely hidden, no bitter aftertaste. Made with lager yeast, like it’s supposed to. Really good. Finally found a beer this brewpub makes that lives up to the hype. Textbook example of a solid Baltic Porter.

GABF 2011 Media Luncheon. Dark nutty brown with a very thin head. Chocolaty java aroma, smells delicious with a soft nose of wood and deep tones of roasted dark malt. Amazing aroma. Taste had some burnt chocolate, slight coffee tones, and a burnt grain finish. Medium body but full flavor.
