COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian mountain-style dubbel brewed with raw sugar, dextrose, and Appalachian sorghum syrup for extra sexiness. Fermented with two Belgian yeast strains and finished with red wine yeast for dryness. Among The Goochís picks for one of the top 100,000 beers ever brewed.

12 oz bottle shared with ebone1988 from Dumpster Box No. 2. The pour is a dark brown with a nice garnet shining through and there is a khaki colored collar of head and no lace. The aroma is surprisingly not bad. There is a good maltiness to it and it's almost like a dopplebock. There is a light spiciness, but it's actually not too bad. The flavor is isn't awful. There is a lot of metallic tendency and a good hearty Belgian malt. I'm not feeling all of the metallic. The mouth feel is a little heavier with a soft carbonation that makes it seem a touch thicker than it probably is. The aftertaste is lingeringly sweet metallic and just not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20, out of Dumpster Day box #2. Aroma is caramel, toffee, malt, sugar, a lot of Belgian qualities. Appearance is dark brown ruby, light light tan head. Taste is metallic, sugar, caramel and toffee, malty. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, metallic aftertaste. Overall, not a terrible dubbel, but my standards are low for the style.

12 oz bottle.. Fine clear ruby red body with a very good head. Malty aroma is rather simple compared to the more spicy flavor. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap at McGarvey's in Annapolis, MD. Clear auburn brown with a khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, mild spiciness, toasted malt, plums and red grapes Taste of spice, toffee, plums, bananas and dates. Something about the spiciness seems a little off, but overall the taste is pretty nice. Medium/light body and medium/low carbonization with a slightly oily mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: a beautiful clear dark ruby color, with a short, fizzy, quickly-dissipating tan head. Aroma: candi sugar, molasses, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, raisins, and a hint of cherries. Taste: as the aroma indicated, with a bit of oak and dark chocolate. Finish: lingering, sweet, slightly sticky, cherry notes come out a bit more. Notes: A slightly atypical dubbel in that it wasnít particularly yeasty, or the strains they used werenít fulsomely aggressive ones. While slightly off-style, it was tasty and rich without being sticky. Bottle from Total Wine in Fairfax, Virginia (Pickett Center).

bottled - purchased in Roanoke VA - nice reddish dark color. Flavor ok but has a slight artificial caramel aftertaste. Not bad, but not great.

Poured from tap. Pours a red-gold color with a 1 finger head that rapidly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma - dark dried fruit, something tangy. Taste - bourbon-like, dried fruits, tangy, and some caramel notes. Oily on mouth, tang is unusual, maybe from the sorghum?

I believe underwhelming is the word I am looking for here. Underwhelming in the sense that there is an overwhelming amount of spices that mix and mingle in here, but never really come together as a solid beer. Thick and malty. The cinnamon and nutmeg really come through and Iím not sure, but it might be a licorice flavor too.

Bottle shared by Adam. Thanks man. Dark mahogany auburn body with a thin beige cap. Brown bread, yeast, brown sugar. Dark fruit notes, particularly raisins and plums. Like to medium and body with moderate sweetness, just like Adamís mom.

Dark body with barely any head. A lot more spice than I was expecting with a good balanced malt profile. A little on the dry side but very good overall.
