COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian mountain-style dubbel brewed with raw sugar, dextrose, and Appalachian sorghum syrup for extra sexiness. Fermented with two Belgian yeast strains and finished with red wine yeast for dryness. Among The Gooch’s picks for one of the top 100,000 beers ever brewed.

Bottle at home. Snow day. Pours dark brown with off white head. Nosea nd taste of molasses, Belgian yeast, dark sugar, sorghum and touch of dark fruit. Medium body.

Bottle from Beer Run. Clear reddish brown pour. Small tan head. The aroma’s of banana cake, cocoa powder, cherry skin. Rich, bruised autumnal fruits and Belgian yeast. The taste is balanced sweet/spicy. A bit of grain and cinnamon. Slight boozy heat. Toffee, red apple skin, more banana bread. A bit thin through the dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, quite enjoyable.

Very dark amber color with a bubbly tan head. Dark dried fruit, brown sugar and spicy yeast aroma. Figs and raisins flavors some brown sugar and molasses. Almost fizzy feel in mouth. I wish this beer wasn’t as carbonated as it is. Sweet sugary finish.

Bottle courtesy of Pedro. Pours a deep brownish red with thin tan head and some spots of lace. Nose is dark and dried fruits - cherry, plum, fig, some spice, licorice. Medium body with a dry finish. Flavor follows suit with something slightly off-putting.

10/5/2013. Sampled at VA Hop Fest. Pours light brown with a tan head. Aromas of dried fruit, brown sugar, roasted malt. Caramel flavors mostly. Seem a bit off for the style lacking complexity.

Pour out of bottle, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, some spice, earth, into caramel, toffee, some slight yeasty notes. Taste is a mix of slight dark caramel, toffee, hints of spice, slight earth, grass, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Not much going on here.

Pours an opaque chestnut with a thin tan head. Aroma has some slightly sweet dark fruits...fig stands out...some bl cherry, prune. Flavor follows suit...fig, prune, raisin...just a hint of caramel and earthy leather. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is earthy/fruity/leathery and dries out.

pours an opaque dark brown with a very thin tan head. aroma has some roasty notes and caramel. flavor is more roasty with a hint of coffee...just a bit of that yeasty/fruitiness that you would expect from a dubbel creeping in late. Mouthfeel is medium and lively with a roasty/dark fruity dry finish. doesnt drink much like a dubbel...more like a heavy schwartzbier or something.

Draft at Moriartys. Clear dark pour that started with a fizzy head that disappeared very quickly. Thin clean body. Burnt caramel. Liquorice. Green pepper. Dark orange malt. Pickles. Feels nothing like a proper Tripel.

This one poured a lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was burnt brown sugar, yeast, light spices. Flavor was biscuit, dark candy sugar and yeast notes. Ok.
