This pale bronze beer is medium in body with intense hop flavor and aroma. Our IPA is brewed in the style of the “west coast” with robust hop character coming from American grown varieties of hops. IPA’s are amongst the most popular craft brewed beers as they have moderate strength and tons of flavor. This is not your Grandfathers beer! 5.9% alcohol by volume, 60 IBUs

Sorry to continue my rant on fresh hops, but I fear that many IPA’s I am rating are being slighted by a lack of freshness. This also may be a cause for bias towards local hoppier beers. Could this beer have been better if I drank straight from the source, maybe. Poured a hazy orange. Pine and grass strong on the nose. Has citrus flavors, but not the gut punch found in the best IPA’s. Will try and buy next time I am in VA to see if freshness was a factor. Bottle - Trade from RABinVA

On Tap at DC. Pours orange with long lasting white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops, passion fruit, orange marmalade and biscuit malt. Body is medium and tangy. Citrusy hops dominate the palate; with tropical fruit and biscuit malt provide some balance. Finish is long and very hoppy. Nice IPA.

Solid IPA. A nice session brew. Impressed this far with Devils Backbone brewery. Definitely one I'd drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I liken this beer to the white water IPA from Boston beer co. Not as bitter maybe stronger bodied. I am biased as these are both favorites in my household. They are bitter beers with a depth of flavors at the same time they manage to be refreshing and clean.

Tap at Annapolis 5K Beer Run. Pours amber with thin, off-white head. Aroma is caramel and cereal malts, earthy and grassy hops, figs, and light toast. Flavor is sweet, bready malts forward with great supporting earthy and spicy hops and some dark fruit esters along with some woody notes; dry, bitter finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

12oz bottle. Pours a pale gold color with a frothy white head. Aroma of citrus notes, grapefruit and orange, with some pine. Taste has a light malt base, with a citrus and pine bitter finish.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Pours dark orange with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of grassy hops and light citrus. Good hop bitterness that is met with a nice malt balance. Finishes slightly dry with some lingering bitterness. Well done.

Much better on tap than bottles. Citrusy American hops and some malt. Tasty.

Bottle. Pours clear pale amber with a large white creamy head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Quite a pungent aroma, citrus, mango, hemp, cat piss. Dank is a good word. Flavor is about the same, more subdued than aroma. Not much sweetness, medium bitterness, a bit spicy perhaps - rye? Quite light bodied.
