This pale bronze beer is medium in body with intense hop flavor and aroma. Our IPA is brewed in the style of the “west coast” with robust hop character coming from American grown varieties of hops. IPA’s are amongst the most popular craft brewed beers as they have moderate strength and tons of flavor. This is not your Grandfathers beer! 5.9% alcohol by volume, 60 IBUs

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a crystal-clear golden color. This produces lots of head, about three fingers high, and shaded barely off-white. It fades to about one finger in a short time, featuring a decently frothy texture. Nice sheets of lacing are left behind. S: I note a lot of Simcoe hops, providing mango, melon, pine, and catty notes. Biscuity malt comes out the more it warms up. A good aroma, not an amazing one. T: This opens with slight mango and melon notes. Touches of biscuity malt fills out the middle, before it finishes with a moderate hop bitterness, both piny and herbal. The back end in particular offers a strange grassy bitterness to it; this quality is probably why I don’t like this more. M: Good crispness, but a bit heavy in texture. This would be quite drinkable if the herbal finish didn’t rub me the wrong way. Carbonation is non-intrusive. O: While I’m thankful to see a relatively local IPA hit the market, it just can’t compete with the heavy hitters in the style. There’s too much weird bitterness for me to love this. Not horrible, but I wouldn’t seek out again.

Very smooth with a solid hoppy flavor, not harsh or sweet. Solid IPA. Highly recommended for those looking for a good IPA

Bottle gift from SJ . Body was a tad thin. Nice notes of citrus hop, pine and caramel malts. Sweet finish. Not bad.

Pours. Clear golden color with a thick head. Light hoppy mild aroma. Flavor is a bit harsh, but I think it’s the cascade hops. Still fairly good.

On tap at Brewer’s Cask in Baltimore. Light hops and wheat aroma. Golden with slight lacing head. Mostly floral hop with some citrus and pine as well. Also malt, wheat and honey flavors. Not quite as intense as other IPAs, which makes it nicely drinkable. Good stuff - nice to have Devils Backbone again.

Where and how: Bottle 355 ml
Aroma nice high pitch alpha hop, C- hop, pine , hint of blueberry with zesty sides. 8-
Appearance :
Top: medium white top, fragmental lace.
Base: amber- gold.
Palate : medium bodied, softer carbonation .
Taste: Green leaf like hops, piney, floral. Old school West coast approach .
other notes nice to see something that in not one dimensional in world of IPAs.
