COD 8/20/15. Pours a clear pale gold. Outstanding head volume, world class retention and lacing. Very light nose of biscuit, a slightly tart lemon note and a whiff of hops. Classic lager light body that is semi-smooth. Superb carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly finish. The flavor profile is outstanding. It begins with a crisp biscuit character that flows over a subtle biscuit sweetness that just hints at its presence. The middle brings a mild hop bitterness and hop flavor. As the finish approaches, the lemon of the nose appears. The balance is where this beer shines. Not overly intense nor complex, just plain good tasting. The finish is a tad dry, rather crisp and very clean.

Can. Clar, deep gold. Giant long lasting head and nice lace. Aroma was grains and straw. Taste was a weak hay, straw and grains.

For the Helles style, it’s pretty good. It’s light with a nice amount of toasty malt. It’s sweet but not overly with a nice zing of fizzy. Lagers tend to get rated lower due to the lack of complexity of flavors but there is something to be said for a lager with little to no flaws. Nice job...

Can from a mixed 12 pk in the local Kroger that had both cans and bottles. Clear gold with a minimal white head. Aroma of light grain. No hop aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet, some light bitterness in the finish. Decent but not a very good Dortmunder.

From a can. The cans were kind of wrinkled. The whole 6 pack actually. Weird. Clear gold, nice white head. Smells grainy, lightly sweet, and kind of peppery. Palate is a bit on the heavy, syrupy side. Taste is sweetish, grainy and toasty, and a peppery, grassy hop finish.

12 oz. can. Shiny golden with a nice bubble activity supporting a thin loose covering of bubbles on top. Nose is light citrus, toasted maize and dried grass. Tastes of maize, spicy dried grass and a touch of tart apple. Light body has a pleasant medium carbonation and a nice balance.

Can. Pours a yellow color with white head. Grainy, straw, slight earthy aromas. Straw, malty, earthy flavors. A bit thick for a helles, but good flavor.

Can from Mills in Annapolis. Golden yellow body with thin head. Nose is malty, floral, toasty. Flavor is malty, lageresque with quite prickly texture and warming finish. Decent.

From can to glass at the Rosedon in Bermuda. After waking up at 4:30 am, being delayed for 3 hrs in MIA.... I arrived at this great hotel and they now carry a non-macro. Drinking one poolside at 1 am before heading to bed. Score may be inflated - but the crisp grain pairs well with 80 degree humidity after a loooooong day.

on tap @ Devil’s Backbone / Roseland VA --- Clear straw color, 1" white head, sheets of lace. Taste is clean light malt that turns to drying hops on the swallow. Mostly light bitters takes it the rest of the way. Unusual that it is lacking in carbonation. Otherwise, a nice, conventional, light brew.
