COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Scottish-style wee heavy ale is deep ruby in color, full in body with a sweet, malty finish. A great beer for late Fall or early Winter. If it ainít Scottish itís...!

A very impressive SA. It is malty with lots of caramel to start. It is fairly sweet and malty in the nose. There is a dash of herbs in the flavor, which is top notch for the style imo. This could be the best thing Iíve tried yet from this brewery (which is now owned by Bud @#%).

Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark brown body with thin tan head. Nose is malty, alcy, spicy. Taste is malts, caramel, strong ale and nice and sweet in the syrupy finish. Good stuff.

Half growler. Deep copper-brown and clear. Thin film of creamy bubbles on top. Nose is earthy toffee with hints of coffee and ash. Tastes of rich dark toffee, smoldering hay, peppery green herb and a touch of over-ripe apple. Medium-heavy body has medium carbonation and a nice balance. Not a stickler for style categories, but this really seems to have quite a bit of peat-smoked malt, so Iím guessing it should be a "Scottish" and not a "Scotch" as currently listed.

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Thanks Mike! Dark reddish amber with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, malt. Tastes of caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Medium body with a dry finish.

22 oz bottle from Nimbleprop shared with a big group. Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, a candy like quality, some oak character to the finish, floral almost, which is a bit weird, more mal, decent enough.

The flavor is really nice, but I just wanted it to be much bolder. The aroma is a little underwhelming but present are many of the nice elements of a scotch ale: malty, earth, sweet burnt sugar. Taste is sweet and malty. Finish is a little lighter bodied than Iíd like...but overall is solid and exemplary of the style.

A very decent Wee Heavy. Reddish brown appearance with a nice thick head. Sweet and slightly piney aroma and a great thick flavor of molasses, bread, and fruit.

1 pint 6 fluid oz bottle at The Outpost Lexington. This was an afterthought while visiting the attractive tasting room and brewery in Lexington, VA. The Scotch Ale poured an attractive mahogany color with a small off white head that dissipated a to a collar around the glass. The sweet aroma of caramel malts and almond greet you. The flavor was more complex with brown sugar, almonds and dried apple. The medium body ale had soft carbonation. The finish had no bitterness but some lingering almonds and sweet caramel. By the way they are expanding the capacity at this location
