3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Khyber Pass. Pitch black pour that shows as a dark clear ruby red under bright light. Soft light brown foam. Dark roasted chocolate flavors. Some ashiness. Tastes like a stout but with a much lighter body and lower ABV. Good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled during CBC 2013. Dark brown almost black pour with a small khaki head. Roasted malts, coffee, caramel, a bit of a burnt toffee touch in the aroma. Roasted malts in the flavor, dry enough to balance the caramel and toffee aspect. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured as a 2 oz sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. May have been suffering from palate blowout. Aromas and flavors of coffee, coffee grounds and sweetness from the malt. Not as dark as I might have expected, a bit of a lager yeast taste with a metallic/mineral finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Location/Date:Bottle on July 26th, 2013.
Appearance: Pours black with light head.
Aroma: Aroma of roast, light nut.
Taste: Light bitterness, roast, nut.
Palate:Medium light body, slightly creamy.
Summary: I really feel Schwarzbiers are underrated as a session style beer with flavor because they are not related to IPAs. This is a nice example of the style.
