Nice completely crisp and clear light copper coloured body with a bright orange glow and a rich peach and light amber tint, all with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of strong hops, alcohol, oak, dry grass, apricots and a good amount of pine. Medium-bodied; Strong hop flavours throughout with resin, pine, pineapple and a hint of tropical notes coming through, but all with a mildish malt backbone - not horribly strong, which is nice, and a very pungent fruit flavour that dominates the finish. Aftertaste has a pleasant sweetness from the fruits with a good pine and hop kick that lasts for quite a while. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA with a good flavour profile and a more hop-forward beer! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington, DC (Foggy Bottom) on 24-February-2014 for US$3.49 sampled at home in Washington on 18-June-2014 a few hours before leaving for Asia for a last sample of the good beer available at home in my backyard!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer that met my expectations.

12 oz bottle shared with the group from nimbleprop. Pours a clear golden color with a quickly disappearing white head. The aroma has much more malty sweetness and some oxidation than it does any hop character. The flavor has sweet caramel malts, some spicy hops, light resin, a hint of citrus, alcohol burn, moderate bitterness to the finish. I want more hop pop from my DIPAs.

12oz bottle, thanks to alexsdad06 for sharing. Clear golden orange color. Thin bit of bubbly white head. Good piney hop aroma, lightly spicy. Lightly soapy. Moderate sweet taste, light tangy hop bite in the finish, moderate bitter. Bigger body, lightly dry finish. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. OK DIPA. Cool printed-on bottle though,

Bottle to snifter (shared by alecsdad06). Looks good; a transparent golden orange with eggshell head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells of bitter hops. Tastes like it smells with a light, fairly dry mouthfeel. Solid beer.

Fresh bottle. Pours gold with slight white head. Good head retention. Nose is mostly dank hop. Some misc. citrus but nothing pronounced to me. Taste is slightly bitter pine/resin, some pineapple. Distinct Simcoe notes here. Wasn’t picking out the other varieties as clearly. Decent, but forgettable.

A very aggressive IPA. Lots of pine resin in this one, from nose to mouth. Tried with Messa at the Old Line in 2014.

Bottle. Amber pour with a short white head. Aroma is rather floral and piney with citrus notes, caramel, sweet malt and toasted grains. Taste is big floral and citrus hops, pine notes, tropical fruit, toasted bread, grains, sweet malt and notes of caramel. Body is medium-full and slightly chewy. Mild resinous notes as well as mild boozy notes also. Ends with more caramel, pine resins, floral hops, tropical fruit, citrus oils, light earthy notes, sweet malt and bready notes.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Dark orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of tangerine, tropical fruits, and caramel malt. While the aroma led me to believe this would be more balanced the taste offers assertive tangerine, pineapple, and grassy hops which offer plenty of bite without being overwhelming. The finish is wonderfully bitter but still offers an undercurrent of sweetness. Nicely done!

Bottle. Deep golden, attractively carbonated. Ticky-tacky head, although it’s a bit thin. There’s but a bit of a malty aroma, but this drinks with a full-on malt burn, and a pine forest’s worth of resin. Quite delicious and a new Virginia favorite. (#5450, 3/2/2014)
