It pours golden with lacing and a white head. There are aromas of grapefruit, floral, and citrus. There are flavors of grapefruit, floral, citrus, and toast. It is highly bitter with a medium feel to it.

Had at beach house in Bethany. Pours a light gold color with some foam that recedes to a white film. Nose of citrus and pine. Taste is also of citrus/pine with hops on the finish. Boozy taste also present, not all that well hidden. Pretty good.

amber color;great hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and pine notes; lots of piney hop flavor with citrus notes on a medium bodied, bicuity malt base; pretty well balanced for such a high gravity beer;nice, dry, hoppy finish

Split a 22oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a medium sized, fluffy white head. Aroma was sweet caramel malts, some light chewy hops, touch of citrus. Booze. Flavor was light tropcial notes, some very light citrus. Lots of malts on this one, and itís a bit boozy, but it is pretty smooth and avoids the alcohol burn that Iíve come to expect from most high alcohol Imperial IPAs.

Tap at FWIBF 2015. Pours a deep orange to almost brown with slight white head. Aroma is boozy and sweet lemon hop. Taste is a boozy and malt forward DIPA that just tastes oxidized and old. Not sure how fresh this was but it was not at all tasting fresh.

Bottle from Total Wine, Cívill. So this beer was only just released in the area, but was apparently bottled in early March. What gives? Pours medium amber with a prominent white head. The nose is pretty much what youíd expect. Big, syrupy, boozy and intimidating. Crystallized tropical fruits. Plenty of syrupy honey. Alcohol. The flavorís similar. Flabby as all hell. Croissant, honey, some underarm and grapefruit. Very, very sweet. Prominent malt character. In this day, recipes like this feel pretty dated.

A little sweeter than I was expecting. Lotís of malt. Thereís definitely a big hoppiness but itís hidden by the big pervasive malts. I feel like Iíve had this beer before and thatís whatís bothering me. Itís a big sounding beer but it doesnít deliver as big as expected. This is a really fresh bottle too and Iím still just overwhelmed by syrupy malt weirdness. Not my kind of dipa but Iím sure someone out there loves this. For me, I was hoping for more hops and less malt.

The best thing Iíve had yet from Devilís Backbone, and a beer Iíd happily recommend to fans of the style. This beer pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a head that fades to a ring around the rim. The aroma is grapefruit, a little pine, a little grass... all hops, all very crisp. The flavor brings buttery malt to the back of the tongue, while the hops stay very forward, very aggressive. Devilís Backbone can hang with the big boys now.
