2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 Bottled August 8 and tasted October 20. Pretty beer, nice head, perfectly clear amber color. Aroma of sweet malt, taste is more of the same with perfectly balanced hopping. Much less hoppy than SABL of course, but this is a very fine example of a Vienna. If you want a beer with some character but don’t like an overdose of hops, this is a great beer for you.
Had it a couple of times on draft .... OK for a Vienna, but light most of the way around.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear gold appearance with a small off white head and a fair amount of lacing. Subtle aroma of cereal grains dotted with caramel. Malts dominate the taste, more toasty than roasty, and only modestly hopped. Smooth, slightly sweet, short lived finish. Well made session beer of an underappreciated style.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught @ Smoke & Barrel, DC.
Pours clear amber, fast fading head.
Modest nose, faint wet malt. Describes taste as well. Thirst quencher, not very interesting, bit bland even.

Great dark gold color. Not a real robust flavor that left me wanting for more.
---all in good suds.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft. Yummy lager. Really nice toast flavor, with a slightly sweet caramel finish. Nothing too fancy (well, it’s a lager), just really good.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark copper body under a small fizzy white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is slightly grainy with toasted and lightly caramel maltiness. Minimal to no hops in the aroma. The flavor is pretty bland and boring with thin husky and grainy toasted malt, almost completely lacking in hops. There’s a lack of smoothness to this as well that belies the fact that this is a lager. Thin and watery with fizzy carbonation. Pretty disappointing, I thought that I had heard good things about this brewery. Guess I need to try some others from them.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a tap. No head or lacing. Nice dark golden color. Unremarkable aroma, malty flavor, full body and nice nutty taste coming through. Not a lager fan, but this wasn’t bad for a wing restaurant.

At Barbecue Dave’s, Sterling VA, November 2013. Deep amber with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish lager, with some caramel and a few hops in the finish. Ok.
