Serving: Draft at MacDowell Brew Kitchen. It pours a deep, deep ruddy color with a dense, light tan head. The nose has a strong smell of caramel, bourbon, and wood. The flavor follows suit with a heavy dose of malt hitting the tongue. Lots of chewy caramel to go with vanilla, oak, and bourbon notes. Full bodied with softer carbonation and a lingering, slightly boozy finish. The finish is surprising given the ABV, but the alcohol doesn’t seem to hide despite being only 7.8%. I would have guessed it was stronger.

Vanilla and caramel aroma. Apperence dark amber with a slight cream head smokey flavor with a long palate overtones of caramel. More on the bitter style

Aromas of raisins, vanilla, and peat. Bronze with a fairly lasting, beige head. A welcoming, malty, sweetness combined nicely with a little heat, and a cinnamon-like spice. Medium bodied, very smooth, with low carbonation, and finishes with some spice and hints of peppermint.

A wonderful surprise on a trip to Virginia. Absolutely delicious, complex, sensational mouth feel.. The only drawback was that they wouldn’t sell it to go - they didn’t have enough left.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a medium offwhite head. The head lasts a bit and fades to a thin persistent layer on the beer’s surface. Decent lacing. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, oak, burnt sugar, apple. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, toffee, nuts, spicy wood, bourbon, vanilla and a faint fruitiness including notes of apple and peach. Smooth, medium-full bodied.
