It poured a deep brown, with small head. Had a very light smell to it. The taste felt watered down, with light roasted coffee and a slight tart finish. Overall I would ahve this again.

(Sample Date: 7/2/2009 Source:Other) Sample courtesy of dkachur. Caramel with a light rustiness and hints of smoke in aroma. Almost opaque very dark brown with small tan head. Light body and mouth feel. Caramel backbone with vanilla and a touch of roast, vanilla and wood y astringency. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with wood coming through. PDG…pretty damn good.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Light charred wood notes. Taste is chocolate, coffee, leafy, spicy hops and light smokiness. Medium bodied. Not much influence from the wood, sadly.
