3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. Clear amber with a large off-white head that laces well. Aroma has sourish rye bread, caramel, grass. Never really loved the smell of rye. Smooth, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Bready with lots of rye, grass, pepper. Some orange and grapefruit that didnít quite fit for me. Firm bitterness. Distinctive and characterful.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can. Medium amber-orange with a tightly packed light orange head. This is a malty IPA (and Iíve said it before, I LIKE my IPAs malty!), with sweet and spicy rye taking center stage, nicely toasted, ending in an assertively hoppy bitter finish. Really tasty malt structure here, although Iím sure a true hophead will be lamenting over the second-seating given to the hops. I loved it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A spicy base from the rye which gives it a nice cloudy amber color. The aroma is hoppy with a slight funk. The flavor is nice, malty, sweet & spicy. A solid beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is dominated by malt. There is quite a bit of rye with some secondary biscuit and cracker notes. There is some muted woodsy hop notes, but this is definitely not what I think of when I think of a California IPA.
Pours a murky copper color with hints of amber. A thin slightly white head recedes steadily leaving a thin film on top and along the edges.
Flavor starts fairly sweet with some rye spice as well as some light caramel. Some faint cracker notes and moderate biscuit. Mid palate the bitterness an hop flavor hits. The hops are very woody and grassy. The bitterness is fairly strong but clean. The finish is fairly sweet but not quite sticky. The bitterness and hop flavor lingers a bit in the finish along with some rye spice and a touch of alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low but present hop astringency. Low alcohol warmth.
Overall this is a very English style IPA with a very English hop profile. The rye is different for the style but woks well with the woody hop character nice but definitely not my favorite IPA.

Tap @ The Bistroís 2010 10th Annual Double IPA Festival. A slightly malty aroma and flavor with some cereal. It was hard to find the hops in this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
10/29/12 notes: 16oz can poured into pint glass. In this era of ever bolder West-Coast style dry-as-hell hop bombs, it is refreshing to try a hoppy beer born of a different mother. Over a tawny amber-gold body sits a good head of sticky foam. Aromas of spicy cut grass mesh with doughy rye and a bit of caramelized pear. Flavor coats the mouth swiftly, striking with a toasty malty hit, then easing into resiny hop notes, musty red fruit and late-end grassy notes. Finish is robust and unique to the style. Recalls Hop Rod Rye, Hop Head Red, Weyerbacher Echo, and, oddly, Titan IPA.) 3.5.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
473ml can pours a golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some decent lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and pine with some hints of caramel. Taste is a bold grapefruit and pine bitterness with a mild caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. This is definitely one for the hop heads as it has a bold over the top bitterness and is a little harsh on the palate. But still an all around good IPA.
