2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Inky black with a fizzy tan head which quickly disappears. Sweet aroma. Sweet taste. Leaves a feeling in your mouth like you've been sucking on a mint without the minty flavor. Not a big fan.

A perfectly above average scotch ale. Definitely one of the better I've had.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rating #921 -January 17, 2014 - 473ml Can from Coop. Light brown amber pour with a bubbly tan foam with little retention. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee, vanilla, oak, honey. Taste is quite sweet at first, prolonged oaky vanilla, light tobacco, toffee sweetness and the presence of oak in the body. I enjoyed this beer more as it started to warm. Very nice medium-full body, mild alcohol note on the palate which is typical for the style, and lots of rich sweetness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smoked sweet bananas and caramel with a spike of iodine. My first official Scotch Ale and so far I’m a big fan... can’t wait to get into something a little more intense.

Dangerously drinkable, but somewhat thin in comparison to other ’wee heavy’s’ I’ve had. The roast/chocolate malts are a little too noticeable for me. Very clean, probably down to American ale yeast. I would certainly try this again though, and would very much like to see it on cask... Overall a very clean American take on a wee heavy.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Deep brown body. Creamy tan head. Aroma of peat, toffee, raisins, dark fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of char, smoke with a light acidity in the finish. A bit medicinal.
