Medium brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and slightly peaty. A medium bodied scotch ale. Malts are fruity and smoky. Hops are bitter and a touch grapefruity. Nice scotch ale. Very pleasant smoke and peat flavors. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Sampled in a big bottle. A real classic scotch ale. Pours dead flat with a good amount of flavor all from malts. Very sweet actually.

Pours deep brown-black with a fluffy white head. Aroma is vanilla, coffee, chocolate, banana. Taste is vanilla, brown sugar, spicy, just a touch sour citrus, coffee finish. Mouth feel is light but chewy. Lightly carbonated works well.

On tap at Jasper’s Corner Tap. Pours really dark reddish brown with small light tan head. Aromas of peat, dark malts, and some toffee. Flavors of dark malts, some toffee, earthy notes with some peat. Pretty average.

Bottle (no bottling date visible). Pours with a near black body with a large and lasting off-white head. Aromas are roasty, very sweet, overripe fruits, VERY estery, raisins, dark fruits, a bit smokey (even phenolic), tobacco, vegital and a hint of acetaldehyde. Messy yeast wise if not a touch infected. Flavors are dry, smokey (strong), leather, chlorophenolic, medicinal, caramel, pear esters. Lively carbonation, oddly dry, medium bodied. Mild infection starting.

Dark brown cloudy color with thin beige head. Aroma o.f cola and cocoa powder. Bready, malty flavor with brown sugar and dark fruit. Subtle alcohol profile with very little hoppiness..

22 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma is a bit metallic, with some caramelized maltiness and peated notes, too. Lightly musty. A pretty solid aroma. Mostly transparent cola-colored body with a medium to small light tan head. Starts quite carbonated. Becomes roasted and toasted with some cereal flavors in the middle. Light chocolate flavors come through after that, which is then tailed by some peated malt character. This is pretty damn roasted and chewy. I like scotch ales, and I think they did a good job with this one. Just a little too carbonated, but otherwise quite solid.

22oz bottle. Pours a clear, slightly viscous cola-brown color with golden edges; modest, fine-bubbled light tan head with patchy lacing. Hint of a vegetal note in the aroma that quickly shifts to a light peat smokiness, cola, and brown sugar. Medium bodied; medium-light carbonation; predominantly cola and, again, brown sugar with light peat smoke; hints of roast and chocolate, but a touch watery mid-palate; the alcohol’s well-hidden. Decent, but a bit sloppy. Medium-length finish shows some nice emergent toastiness and dry caramel.

Draught. Pours a dark reddish brown with no head. Smells of roasted malt and caramel. Tastes the same but with some sweetness. Finishes kind of smoky. Light bodied. Soft carbonation. Oily texture.
