Opaque black beer with a bubbly brown head which soon disappears altogether. Earthy malt aroma with some burnt toffee in there too. Flavour is quite light. It’s a touch watery but it’s not bad and pretty drinkable. There’s a short, sharp fruit hit when you first taste it but it settles into being a light malty thing with a sweet aftertaste.

Bottle. Creamy aroma with faint licorice and hazelnuts and faint red fruit. Opaque with clear, ruddy brown highlights and a thin patch and collar of tan bubbles. Flavour is slightly tart with roasted barley, licorice, and brown sugar. Very low bitterness and peanut and raspberry notes. Medium light body, moderate to medium carbonation, midway been crisp and smooth.

Very dark. Quickly thinning brown head. Not bad dark roast malt scent. Coffee and a hint of imperfection. Flavour is a touch sugary, thinning, with some sourness. OK.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2015 11.2 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a non transparent solid black when held to a light source. Thin off white head that formed but quickly disappeared, aroma of smoke, a roasted malt, and some molasses. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt and mouthfeel is not as wide as the appearance and style should command, middle has a bit of smoke, finish is clean and only briefly lingers. Ok.
