Sweet and bland for a porter. Dark brown color. Thin body with modest head. Not worth seeking out.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, Ship in a Bottle, West Kirby. Deep dark brown pour with a tan head that faded to nowt. Sweet, roast heavy snout. Similar rather insipid flavour with notes of dark bitter choc and coffee. Nothing much to see here, move along please.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a tulip.
A: Pours a very dark brown color. Iím impressed with itís pitch-black-ness, especially since itís only a 5% porter. There isnít much head, though - only a finger high, with a mocha shade. Even with its dinky height, the retention isnít very good
S: This one smells quite sweet. Actually, come to think of it, itís more redolent of a cream stout than a porter, with all the rich lactose and chocolate I pick up. Beyond that, thereís just a kiss of roasted barley and espresso, and it does a decent job of balancing things out. Honestly, this smells like it will be a winner.
T: Indeed, it drinks like a milk stout - that initial lactic twang is unmistakable. Thereís just enough fruitness, though, that makes me think íporterí instead. The finish is pure coffee-and-cream. After a while, it becomes very caramel-forward, and not the shitty ícrystal maltí kind of caramel either: itís slightly reminiscent of sucking on a piece of Wertherís Original. I didnít know what to expect, but this is honestly pretty damn good.
M: Relatively full for 5%, and - like I said before - sweet. The sweetness harms the drinkability some, however. The thick, syrupy feel (almost) makes it seem bigger than it really is.
O: Iíll call this one underrated. Itís pretty far from being perfect, and I wouldnít even call it ígreatí; but considering itís supposed to be pseudo-craft from Mexico, it could have been a LOT worse. Hell, I might even buy it again.

Not a bad porter at all. Has a nice chocolate taste and a little toasted coffee. Overall decent

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good dark pour w/ a nice tan head that leaves a little lacing. The aroma draws you in w/ a nice mix of roasted notes & chocolate. The body is slightly thin but it still packs a good flavor punch which primarily consists of the roasted notes w/ a hint of bitterness at the end. Pretty darn good overall!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle to pint (shared by DrSilverworm). Best by 05/16/14. Looks good for the style; a fairly opaque dark cola with light beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt and chocolate with some mild roast in the background. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust or chocolatey. Average on the palate. Decent beer, but it smells better than it tastes.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle, thanks to caterwaul. Shared with b3shine. Best by 05/16/14. Pours a very dark brown color, near black. Thin khaki head. Leaves decent, thicker lace. Good chocolate nose, more dark bitter chocolate, and light hints of metallic; oxidization. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet, light bite in the taste. Light dark fruity notes. Light to medium body. Kind of an abrupt, soft carbonation. Lightly slick. A good bit of chewiness to the texture, though. Alright porter... More good chocolate aroma than I expected, but itís not nearly as smooth nor drinkable as it should be, and flavor is a bit off and metallic compared to the nose.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
11.2 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount into a goblet. Jet black appearance with small tan head and light lacing. Initial nose of dark fruit and red wine, moving to roasted malts, coffee, bitter chocolate and light earthy hops. Similar flavor, roasted and lightly bitter. Average body, a little thin. Pretty tasty, this beer far exceeded my expectations.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
From B and C. This reminds me of the early days of micro-brews when you were excited to get anything with a little flavor. Not bad really, cola flabors and some but not a lot of roasted flavor. Serving: Bottle

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Grainy, chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of pumpernickel, a cautious touch of smoke. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, minimally metallic, a cautious touch of treacle and liquorice. Not bad, sadly a ībit metallic.
