A pleasing porter and a very cool label! A fun beer with some dark chocolate notes, some smoke and a bit of bitterness.

Bottle from cellarbrations superstore in hami hill. Pours pitch black with a thin ring of head. Carbonation a is Mild and body is fairly light and watery. Aroma is strong coffee notes with an underlying hint of cacao. Chocolate is another bold character with slight caramel and toffee. Taste is much like the aroma. Taste begins with a slight zip from the gas. That then develops quickly into vanilla which then moves onto chocolate and cacao. Finish is quite dry with a nice coffee bitterness right at the end of the palate. Quite delicious!

Pours a deep burnt umber with a finger of khaki foam. Nose is roasty with layers of cocoa and wet dough. Palate is thin and one dimensional. Pretty straight forward with a malty cocoa body and a thin finish that lingers with some bubbles.

Bottle from a mix case at the Woodland Costco. Pours very dark brown with a small dark tan head. Aroma of dark malts, dark treacle and something herbal, not to mention chocolate. Med body. It’s a trace smoky, earthy chocolate, and arguably some veg/herb hop. It’s finishing towards dry, earthy, and fairly good.

Bottle from Mitsuya’s Liquor in Asagaya. Burned coffee, leather and cocoa powder aromas present. Thin body and watery mouthfeel. Tastes fairly bittersweet. Slightly astringent finish. Not terrible, but not a solid porter either.

3/17/15 (Bottle) Nice solid dark brown pour, no head, mild carbonation. Very pleasant coffee aroma, as well as coffee and malt.Roasted malt and chocolate are prevalent while drinking, a nice beer that is somewhat sweet and a bit harsh. Full flavor and texture, carbonation prevalent, nice feel and kick. Overall good offering.

Bottle. Coffee-brown coalescing into deep black with a creamy oak head. Aroma is actually pretty nice -- cocoa, pecan, toast and lactose. Sweet pecan shows up again in the flavor along with more milkiness and mild chocolate. Body is light and carbonation is painfully high.
