Not a bad porter at all. Has a nice chocolate taste and a little toasted coffee. Overall decent

33cl @ bottle.

Bien noire, carbo moyenne, petit collet persistant.

330 ml bottle. Pours an opaque, dark brown, almost black with a small, short lived, light brown head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel and dried fruit. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee with a lightly dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

ALLOVATE (2650) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 29, 2015
Black with good clarity and ruby shimmering through in the shallows. Head is a tight, tannish pad that laces well. Aroma of lightly roasted coffee, earth, dusty cocoa and hazelnut liqueur. Buttery on the palate with a balance of coffee, cocoa and scorched timber. Dry and powdery finish with more burnt notes. Light in body with soft carbonation and a smooth but thin finish. Not bad but just doesn’t excite me. Average for a porter. (33cL, no date stamp, Pancho’s restaurant, Victoria Park)

Bottle BBE: Unknown. Cool. Pours a deep reddish-brown body with a small, particularly dark, sandy brown head and light-coloured precipitate. High intensity smoked cheese, sultana, coffee, treacle toffee and burnt toast aromas. Quite sour to taste -probably medium - with a little sweetness and lacking in bitterness. Medium-light body, watery-thin texture, low carbonation and an oaky finish. This promised much with a terrific nose, but the taste and palate are severely lacking. Disappointing.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Utobeer. Pours deep brown with a large, cascading mocha froth head. The aroma holds roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, burnt caramel, earth. Light to medium sweet with plenty of burnt malts, milk chocolate, creamy coffee, scorched earth, slight molasses, charred sugars. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet with further sugary coffee, milk chocolate, moderate roasted malts, some further scorched earth bitterness. Not bad at all.

Bottle from Wisdoms Dos in Tubac AZ. Nice low alcohol Porter for a hot day. Medium brown pour. Taste is light roastiness. Very drinkable and no real flaws but not mind blowing.
