Bottle. Toffee malt and orange peel aroma. Amber with moderate head. Slightly sweet toffee malt and lightly bitter orange peel flavor. Nicely drinkable.

Enticing copper color. White head. Nice light flavorful pale ale. It was surprisingly better than expected.

Rich copper and deep bronze coloured body with a thick, six centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of cereal, malt, alcohol, nuts, a touch of light hops and way more cereal - not too great. Light-bodied; Funky sharp malt up front with little else except for apples, apricots and the stalest hops imaginable. Aftertaste shows not much else, with some light earthy malt and a touch of sweetness at the end - nothing else. Overall, a pretty lacklustre beer with only a touch of flavour and nothing exciting at all, nor any real hops to speak of. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from World Market in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 12-December-2014 for US$1,99 sampled at home a few steps away, in Washington on 25-January-2015.

Jimthechap (1822) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 25, 2015
A surprise and a delight to try this in Dunedin, New Zealand. It seemed well within style, being lustrous amber with a collar of whte head. A good sniff gave me redwood bark, spruce cones and rich nectarine and pastry tart. There was a significant bitterness that I enjoyed, drawing me to another, but being dissuaded Mrs Jimthechap who (I’m told) has a greater appreciation of common sense than I... especially after a few Margaritas.

No drinkability, completely harsh and sharp flavors, no balance, no hops, gross bomb

Medium Amber with a foam rising to escape the bottle. Light scent, where’s the hops? More like an Amber than a pale. Some hops. Thin. Metallic edge. Spend a bit more and amp these up!

11.2 oz. bottle from 6’er (disco price of 6.99 at Walgreens, ha), served in a shaker- poured a transparent copper/amber color, low carbonation, wisps of white upon the liquid surface for a head, some lacing as the beer went into my tummy. Aroma of a pale malt, light mixed floral of pine and citrus. Hits the mouth with a light-medium body, malt wasn’t soaked in caramel again (I wish brewer’s would do this more often), middle is non-existent, finish has some bread, yeast, and pine quality to it, and it lingers. Makes me crave deep fried avocado balls from a Mexican joint down the road- dang!

Bottle at Woody’s in Kingston. Decent balance and very drinkable but lacks the hops or character you’d expect of the style. Fine, but safe.
