2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 13/20
Came along via Beer of the Month Club - 12oz bottle into bottle. This thing lacked the robust characteristics that I was hoping for. Bit thin. I’m bypassing this in the future.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty true to the style but without significance. I may have had it too cold, but the aroma was weak and the palate was exceptionally smooth for the style. Not much up front, but nice hints on the back. Roasty and chocolatey with hints of alcohol.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle courtesy of GT2. Pours a dark brown/cola with ruby highlights and a thin khaki head. Aroma is predominately cocoa powder, raisin, and dark malts. Taste similar to aroma with some coffee and burnt earthy flavors on the finish. Not bad, not exciting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle shared by GT2: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty dark caramel and nutty nose with a touch of diacetyl. Starts with decent fullness and toasty dark maltiness with a touch of burnt popcorn and dark chocolate before a drier bittersweet finish. An average porter at best. Could use a little more body and complexity.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle courtesy of GT2, thanks! Another country rate, this time from Oklahoma. Clear maroon brown, small tan head. Aroma of boozy chocolate syrup. Taste is light cocoa powder and american coffee. The style actually blends well with the dark but light bodied African beers we had earlier in the tasting.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear dark brown color with a minimal frothy off-white head that was mostly diminished with little lacing. Solid roasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium chalky finish of moderate duration. A beer that did not meet my expectations.
