Bottle - from Ale in the Mail. Very dark - nearly opaque. Aroma is mostly roasty but with some malt and hops. Very good - good blend of roastiness, hops and malt. Good example of a porter.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Itís dark and pours dark with a pretty nice head to it. The aroma is very toasty or roasty if you will, and yet is not overpowering.
The taste is complex but balanced. I canít quite pick out the flavors I taste.
Mouthfeel is quite bold, but it is smooth. I only have one bottle, and yet I want more.
Overall, a great beer,

"Big roasted malts and just a touch of hops. Maybe a little Smoke and coffee too. Aroma and taste just about identical. Dry and thin. Good but not great."

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle with much thanks to coyotehunter. Pours a deep brown with reddish highlights and a dense tan head that dies down to lacing and a thin later of suds fairly quickly. Aromas are sugary... kind of brown sugar and chocolate. Flavor is OK, but nothing great. Has a bit of a flabby sugariness to it and the dark edges are a little astringent, but itís a serviceable porter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Deep chestnut brown pour with a small tan head. Mild nose is roast and cocoa, continuing into the taste. The English porter influence is subtle and appreciated; good roast, cocoa, and a faint bittersweet to go along with a small amount of sour. Clean finish, but it does border on being chalky. Overall nicely done.
