Commercial Description:
In celebration of the opening of the Clinton Presidential Library, Diamond Bear Brewing Company introduced its seasonal beer, Presidential IPA. This in beer terms is a "big beer" with lots of flavor. This India Pale Ale has a rich copper color and full body which delivers exceptional body, balanced by a high hop rate. This beer has great aroma with generous amounts of cascade hops to stimulate all of the senses. This is truly a beer fit for a head of state!

clear copper, wispy beige head, streaks of lace, strong earthy hop aroma obscures a hint of sweet caramel malt, lots of hop flavor, very dry with only a trace of sweetness, long bitter finish, starts to grow on you after a while

Bottle… Cloudy golden ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Lengthy, tight retention. Fairly restrained, breadsy, biscuit aroma with light to medium-roast malts and earthy, citric hops. Medium to full-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation. Very well-balanced … moderate earthy hop bitterness and moderate caramel malt sweetness. The finish is bittersweet with a whisper of salt at the tail end. Thanks to headbanger for providing the bottle!

Bottle: The body’s an orange copper hue and it’s got a healthy, frothy egg-shell head. Well sustained, too, and does some nice lacing. The aroma’s an interesting blending of hop scents, a touch of grapefruit, some floral, some earthy. It’s not a strong aroma, but it masks the malts well. The malts are very light in the flavor, both grainy and biscuity. The hop bitterness is rather mild for and IPA (It’s listed at 57 IBUs on the brewer’s site.), but the combo of hops bitterness still overshadows the malt. It finishes on a peppery, resinous note containing a hint of alcohol. The brewer’s website lists the alcohol at 5.82% ABW - - and I’m too tired to figure out what that is in ABV terms. Point is, it seems rather low for showing up in the flavor at all. Not bad.

12oz bottle-pours a dissipating foamy light tan head and amber color. Aroma is medium malt/caramel/toffee, pine/resin. Taste is medium malt/caramel/toffee, pine/resin/herbal hops. Not quite my taste. Became less enjoyable as I progressed. Thanks Russ Powell. Reading the previous 2 raters comments, and knowing them to be good Americans, I must guess that I had a bottle with some issues. Rating stands, but would like to rerate.

Thanks for the bottle, dansting. Darker amber body with a light, yellowish khaki head. The aroma has some sweet notes of cake donuts and orange peel zest. There is also some almonds. The taste is slightly dry with some notes of wood. There is just a hint of grapefruit in the background. A decent IPA, but a little light on the hops.
