COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A malty-sweet German style lager. This beer is a lager brewed in the classic Marzen/Octoberfest style. Brewed with Munich malt and Saaz hops, this lager is aged cold for superior flavor and smoothness. A pleasant malty sweetness and a smooth finish make this beer very drinkable, a perfect companion for cool autumn evenings.!

Photo sent in to be uploaded. Rating from tap (but have had bottles as well). According to the brewer, this is their best batch so far. Pours with a clear orange body and a small off, white head. Decent lacing. Aroma is sweet with caramel, corn and nuts. Taste is caramel and nuts. Smoothish mouthfeel, but a bit fizzy.

Drank the 2008 version at the brewery on tap and in the bottles I brought home. Medium rich on the palate, pours a nice copper color with a modest head and some lacing. I really liked the aftertaste, both on the palate and in the nose. The mild hop bite at the end is the thing that sets this one apart. Very nice. Best year so far for Diamond Bear.

On tap at the Flying Saucer, Little Rock. Not much of a nose, but the appearance was appropriate to the style, a medium reddish brown, with a bit of light, tan head. The flavor was disappointing, nowhere near malty enough to convince me that this was an Oktoberfest. The mouth feel was thin and the finish weak. It wasn’t a bad drinking beer, but it certainly didn’t make me want to have another. Better than a sharp stick in the eye, I guess.

A bit pale for the variety, but nice O-fest malty flavor
