4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 WiseOne (1) - Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA - FEB 15, 2012 does not count
If you know your IPA’s you will appreciate this one. Does what most IPA’s only wish they could by giving you a big beautiful hops aroma and taste, but manages to have nice clean finish. Excellent balance. Big flavor yet highly drinkable. I don’t know how they did it. I think it might have made it’s way into my top three IPA’s. Maybe even my top ten beers.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 baraciisch (606) - USA - JAN 3, 2012
Clear orange in color, aroma is minimal hops.... Flavor is more malty than hoppy, hard to call this a pale ale much less a DIPA... Mostly watery and sweet malts, minimal hops on the finish... Shockingly disappointing, but I am from the West Coast....
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 HonkeyBra (2281) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - OCT 10, 2011
Sampled at GABF 2011. Pours an amberish orang with a small white head. Aroma has a lot of citrus and floral notes. Unfortunately, the flavor is cardboard and mild hops. Kind of flabby on the tongue. Oxidized for sure. Hard to put even my total 1 oz. pour back. This is sad because the aroma hinted at great things for this beer. I will re-rated if I get a better sample of this beer. This was very cool to try, though.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 dbarnold (677) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - JUL 10, 2011
The last two guys to rate this on here are some of my best friends, and top beer nerds, but It’s like were drinking a different beer. Maybe because it’s a winter seasonal and I’m drinking it on July...
Pours like your average corporate beer, with perhaps a little more color and lacing. It doesn’t smell good or bad, there’s almost no aroma at all. Palate is flat as well, I didn’t get much hops, a little sugar maybe, but it basically tastes like a flat english beer to me. I don’t like flat english beer. Finishes clean, so there’s that, but that’s about it.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jcos (673) - Maryland, USA - JUN 26, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 27, 2011 Bottle from ben4321 - my first Arkansas tick! Pours an orange cloudy haze, light head. Aroma is citrus, light floral. Citrus and hop up front on taste, medium bitterness, then some floral on the finish. Medium body, long finish from the hops. A solid example of the DIPA style, and apparently it is not only just available on draft, as I poured myself one out of a bottle.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ben4321 (2222) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 6, 2011
Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 6/6/11
Aroma: The nose is fairly citrusy, orange notes, a bit of candied sugar, and floral hop notes
Appearance: It pours a pretty much clear orange color with a frothy beige head and some lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet for the style, orange candy sweetness, citrus and floral hops
Palate: The body is medium (plus), and it kind of coats the mouth with a lasting, cloying feel to it
Overall Impression:
I guess ye ole description could use an update, as this one is available in 12 oz bottles (I would know as I am currently drinking one). Anyway, this was actually rather solid. Considering that this is one of the (very) few breweries in a beer-lacking state, I wasn’t really expecting much from them, but so far their stuff has not been too bad. I’ll keeping drinking Diamond Bear brews when I’m in town.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Thorpe429 (3824) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUN 4, 2011
From the bottle at SAVOR 2011.
Pours a clear golden color with an average white head. A slight amount of lacing as it goes down before setting into a thin collar. The nose was really grainy with some slight citrus and floral hops in the background. Similarly, the taste was just overrun with grainy malt and bordered on being tannic. Body was medium and dry with some slight bitterness in the finish. I wasn’t a big fan.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sneagrams3 (2338) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 26, 2011
The Dan Journal #442. Tasted 2/6/11. Growler from the Brewpub. Filtered with a dark golden hue. Off-white bubbled head. Aromas of mild grapefruit and olives. Medium bodied and off and oddly bitter. Sulfurous and mild. It gets better as it opens up and comes to room temperature. Bright grapefruity flavors. Decent yet mild. Drinkable yet tame.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strykzone (3132) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JAN 11, 2011
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. Pretty much a classic beer. Grapefruit and caramel. Some nice fruit. Alcohol is not noted. A nice IIPA. Wish I would have taken better notes on this one.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (4606) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - DEC 27, 2010
Bottle. Light amber color, but the beer delivers a huge floral aroma and flavor component. Bit bitter, but the floral perfume is predominate. Big DIPA, but not overpowering. (#4046, 12/16/2010)
