COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Icebreaker Barley Wine follows the Barley Wine tradition by being very big in flavor, sweet, malty, and much higher in alcohol than the average beer. Icebreaker Barley Wine also follows the Diamond Knot tradition of having a pronounced and distinct hop profile. A distinctly hopped Barley Wine sounds unusual only until you take your first sip, then you wonder why everyone doesn't make their Barley Wine like this. The Maris Otter malt comes through in this Barley Wine with a sweet, chocolately malt flavor, that has a marvelous dry finish. Icebreaker Barley Wine features: 100% Maris Otter Malt Chinook Hops for bittering Columbus Hops for finish Columbus Hops for dry hopping London Ale Yeast.

snifter @ beverage place barleywine bacchanal - 2006 vintage; cloudy and light orange, so it stood out on my tray; grainy aromas with obvious alcohol; medium body and becomes more creamy; a little bitter and uneven at first, but improves; lots of lacing; slight burn going down but pretty darn tasty

Good coppery looks. Caramel aromas. Balanced body and structured well. Mouthfeel is low on the carbonation, slick and thick. A BW that could be matched with hearty foods.

Hand-bottle thanks to bitbucket: Pours a transparent copper amber with spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramely malt and some fresh grapefruity hoppy notes. Body starts rich and caramely sweet with some toffee flavor and good bittering hoppy presence with a touch of light fruity notes. Nicely-balanced and fairly complex, a nice barleywine.

Poured a lightly hazy chestnut color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, light bread, citrus fruits, some cocoa, dark fruits, and light alcohol. Taste of sweet caramel, pine, citrus fruits, dried fruits, with light molasses, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Best Diamond Knot we had tonight!
