Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 3, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2005 Cloudy tan-copper; rousing hop aroma - cedar, grapefruit, orange. Creamy start, wonderfully smooth hoppiness flows over the palate. High woody factor, but no earth, pointing to all US hops and minimal quantities of crystal malts. Biscuits, wood, grapefruit collide. Luscious, and finishing with a lot of bitterness.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2004 Light citrus hop nose. Lots of hops in the flavor, but somehow they don't taste quite right,as if they were immature or the wrong type

This was so similar to Stone’s IPA was double checking the tap handle. VERY flowery hops and sharp bitterness. So bitter in fact it may slightly detract from the overall flavor. Crisp and deeply flavorful hops make this excellent - just shy of the Stone.

Fruity, bubblegummy flavor but man, I’ve had too much to drink tonight to be still rating. If this is wrong, deal with it! I have nothing else to say.

Not a strong head on this one. Very fruity/floral aroma. Grapefruit. A floral start to the flavor and an almost sweet but mostly bitter finish. Peach flavors come out on the taste. Dark golden in color with a thin head. Very interesting very floral IPA a must try.

Good flavor and great aftertaste. Not especially fruity but lasts pretty long. Pretty filling beer. Overall, a decent IPA

Aroma somewhat lacking in hops, but huge hops in the taste. Bitter and dry, this leaves the mouth an arid wasteland. One of the best IPA’s I’ve had, but not sure this should be top 50. I’ll try it again sometime.

Hops, hops in the aroma, hops in the taste. It has a citrus taste, but also slightly something else like leaves. Thanks Baobubba for getting me a growler of this one. Its a very good IPA.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2004 Drinking this excellent concoction is akin to rolling around in a field of flowery, aromatic hops. It is also like being hit over the head with a soft, loving, hop-pillow. I once had a pint (from the barrel) with delicious green specks of hops floating around in it, and I loved every ounce.

nice hop aroma, hops all over the palate, clean finish. A very nice IPA
