Draught at the brewpub. Hazy pale amber. Vast lychee/grapefruit aroma. Dryish with gently soft mouthfeel. Plenty of juicy hops dominate until the massively bitter finih sets in. Despite the hops it’s very drinkable. A world class IPA! I’m hard pressed to remember any IPA I liked this much!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiulijn (10407) - Como, ITALY - APR 10, 2011
Courtesy of Oakes Cloudy light amber color, small head. The aroma is hoppy, mildly fruity; but also grassy, and with an impression of wood and smoke. Dry mouthfeel; caramel and toffee flavor, a bit dusty; strong bitterness, resiny and creamy, but not enough fruity. Creamy toffeish final, long. Pleasant but not impressive.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 3, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2005 Cloudy tan-copper; rousing hop aroma - cedar, grapefruit, orange. Creamy start, wonderfully smooth hoppiness flows over the palate. High woody factor, but no earth, pointing to all US hops and minimal quantities of crystal malts. Biscuits, wood, grapefruit collide. Luscious, and finishing with a lot of bitterness.
