On tap at Washington Summer Festival 04.Light brown,lasting beige head.Great complex malt nose. Good carmel malt start with medium hop finish

The best beer (perhaps other than the DK IPA) offered at the ’05 April Brew’s Day in Bellingham. Very musky aroma - smoked oak, aged cheese quality, bourbon, some darker hops and pine. Some grassiness, but not freshly cut grass, rather like grass that has been sitting in the yard a while, surprisingly this is a good quality giving the beer a chewy musky character (Martha Stewart: "it’s a good thing"). The flavor is more crisp - more hops, but maintains the dark quality from the aroma, preceding a floral finish. This is a great ESB, but could use a bit of rounding-out and aging. This almost seems like a Dunkel to me.
