Essentially, the same recipe as the IPA, but with approximately 25% more grain and 3 1/2 times the hops! 75 IBUís, 100% Columbus Hops.

On tap @ Malarkeyís. Pours dark golden amber with medium-thin white head. Aroma is mild caramel malt and thin floral hops. Taste is sweet lightly syrupy dark caramel malt and piney bitter hops. Very malt forward DIPA with lingering bitter finish. Not bad, and one you can usually find cheap and easily in the PNW. Could use more flavor from the hops though.

Bottle, brought back from the Xmas road trip. Pours a nice caramel color topped with a monster beige head. Lots of sticky lacing follows a lumpy finger to the bottom of the glass. Nose is good, a sweet and piney blend. Good caramel malts and citrus balance the florals. Overall quite easy to drink, but potent. Good stuff.

Bomber. Unclear lighter orange copper, impressive creamy rocky off-white head mutes aroma of herbal spicy hops. Herbal coniferous spicy floral hop forward taste, firm sweet caramel malts, some citrus. Livelier carbonation, medium bodied, more aggressively hopped. Solid brew, but a bit tame for an Impy, which makes it: LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Draft at Mountlake Terrace brewpub. Darker opaque orange, soapy foam. Crisp hop, good malting. A little soapy in middle. Solid taster, fruity too.

Decent IPA, though I prefer the previous/original version. Maltiness kind of snuffs out the delicate hop aromas. Some citrus surfaces, but itís kind of weak. Sort of nutty and resinous. Not as hoppy (flavor-wise, aroma-wise or bitter-wise) as you would expect for a double IPA, let alone one with 75 IBUs. Still, itís a decent beer.

Tap at Marciero. Fruity, resinous aroma, some caramel, rich stone fruits. Deep amber color with a fine, lacy head. Nice enough flavor, cherry, muscat, peach, plum, pine, a bit of chocolate. Full. Ok, but not enough flavor for the strength, and a bit too thick. Very old school.

Eh. Bitter. Would have been better if complemented by some other kinds of hop. Not bad but not good either.

A solid beer, however it is surprisingly bitter. Itís nice but there doesnít seem to be much complexity to it.

For having "100% Columbus hops" itís impressive that so many hop notes come out in this brew. A bit of earthiness, spice, and slight piney and citrusy nose. Nice dry finish. Overall and enjoyable 2XIPA.

Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral aroma is quite engaging. Taste is also dominated by citrus notes with some floral undertones and some lightly sweet caramel malt notes. Pine notes are also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A bit too sweet for my taste but still extremely enjoyable.
