On draft at the Diamond Knot Brewery back on 06Jul2007. This double IPA (or xIPA as DK calls it) is good stuff. Nice darker amber color with a creamy head. Good malt sweetness that gets covered by a hop flavor that is very strong but not killer bitter (is there such a thing?). I really like this beer. It has such a creamy body and just had a great hop finish. Nice piny, citrus, herb flavors in the hops. I had 4 of these after I rated it.

Amber with red hints and a frothy head. Sheet lacing. Musty aroma of citrus and bitterness. A bit of roast and a hint of woodiness. Oranges and malts being toast and roast. Bitter, malty finish.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a nice off-white head. Fruity, grapefruit aroma. Nice grapefruit and slight tropical fruit flavor with pine and a bit of caramel. Lingering pine and grapefruit. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, medium/full bodied.

DrunkenWeasel (224) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 27, 2007
A very nice light amber with a medium white head quite pleasent looking. Smells of a rich hoppy aroma that is mostly piney could have done with some more levels of hop. The taste is more complex with a nice hint of malt to the hops but a slight yeasty twang at the end detracts from it. Otherwise really good.

Big ol thick hop juicer. Citrus and pine flavors blend through a murkey orange body wth a thin white head. Resiny and heavy on the palate, sticking to every taste bud. A good beer for a really spicy dish, this thing could rid the palate of any flavor.

(Draught) Sampled at Brouwer’s in Seattle. Lasting tan head with a lightly carbonated deep orange body. Nose of creamed vanilla, sweet candy cane malt and strong hops. Smooth, malty, wooden and tart oranges. Toasted malt finish. Very good.

Had this on tap at the Diamond Knot pub. A hazy brown color. Excellent aroma: lots of citrus and floral and some pine, aswell. Not to the level of pine resin in Ruination, but just about the right level - not overpowering. Nice long finish with a great after taste. Doesn’t coat the tongue the way some DIPAs do.

Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 14, 2006
GABF 2006. Slightly hazy golden body. Aroma is NW hops, light sweetness and funkiness. Taste is stong bittering hops, rich maltiness. Long, lingering bitter hop finish. A little watery. Well brewed IPA, not dominated by over the top hops.

hopscotch (9162) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 5, 2006
Draft... GABF ’06... Mostly clear, golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Aroma of PNW hops; grapefruit and pine with a rumor of mandarin orange. Solid malt backbone holds up nicely to the onslaught of bittering hops. Well-balanced like many PNW IPAs. Medium-bodied with restrained carbonation. Lengthy, moderately bitter finish.
